Completely agree. He is a relief. Hamish looks stupider by the day
  2. Sir Arthur Higgins

Glad he’s not there end of the day anymore as I can kind of see why states wouldn’t trust his bombastic blow hard nature. Hell of a year

The Hammer started out well in the depths of covid slashing costs and boostin/securing revenue but....you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain....yikes. his last 12 months are a debacle. not meaning to be captain hindsight here but how do you only offer mark a...

Wont blame mark but will blame Hamish here.

Living i Living in general in France is far cheaper than aus tho Food, booze, rent (outside certain markets but small town France is not overly expensive)

Dumb decision. the stadium only needs to be 20k. I’m sure they can fit something in town

Borrowing more to pay off loans Probably lower attendance at test matches this year too unless super teams can put in a showing and build excitement
  8. Sir Arthur Higgins

    Australian Rugby / RA

Absolutely. They have a small window to get it absolutely right. World Cup and lions help but they HAVE to be competitive fast otherwise if both those pass and the wallabies suck, rebels and force fold and it’s three super teams again

I agree Ideally we can all reformat it to make it a better profuct End of the day I think a reformed super is the best option. If the playing depth and money improve then you could look at a domestic comp but that’s 20 years from now I reckon all going well. Super is 70% fixed by better Aussie...

Ya there’s a few adjustments the game needs to be more appealing while still being rugby. Has nothing to do with aus struggling to me as I see same annoying things in other teams games. The games at the cup with high ball In play were sensational and they need more of that. Some will say but nfl...

Add to this rule changes to get fans engaged. Scrum clocks etc to get more ball in play

There’s a good article in the age about aus rugby governance structure being terrible and filled with too many people with “rugby iq” which is meaningless at board level if they can’t govern. I think super can get fixed by conferences that enable as said above - a home and away season with aus...

It does surprise me that a bank or financial institution with international reach doesn’t sponsor them. I would think Macquarie is a natural.

i would revert to conferences for good top three teams make the finals and a wild card game for the fourth. aus 1 then plays aus 4, aus 2 plays aus 3 mirrored on the NZ side and then after first round there is a cross over Winner of 1A v 4A plays winner of 2NZ v 3 NZ Winner of 1 NZ v 4NZ plays...

I agree to an extent. its a fine balance. ideally it would be more than six home games and less than 12 i honestly think the conference idea is workable. it works in the nfl, nhl, nba, mlb, college sports. why is it unworkable in super rugby? Australia conference and NZ conference. you play each...

from The roar " “Thank f—k” was the colourful reaction Greg Martin used that summed up his reaction as he arrived at work in the early hours of Monday morning, having risen to discover former World Cup-winning Wallaby Daniel Herbert was the new Rugby Australia chairman. “There’s some hope at...

Really agree here Individually not a big loss but cumulatively that’s a lot of 6s and locks etc out of the game domestically. Puts pressure on grass roots which are under other pressures Also shows if he can go and get $500k, pretty lucrative

Can someone explain to me why they need commercial centralization? Is it just for contracting of players? I think they need high performance, skills, coaching and s&c centralization. Brumbies are undoubtedly effed financially. Crowds say it all really. Rebels probably as well My guess is those...

Agreed. We know Gil not goyder. Inwould have preferred a private coup versus public but ultimately I think Hamish has to fall on his sword for Jones. It was a complete disaster and an expensive one and clearly there was material opposition to the move. JS in hindsight looks like a bad call...

I don’t think PV being in the press helps the game in any way. He’s a solid administrator of an already thriving sport. All that to say, yes he’s in the public eye but to no real benefit so no need to RA chairman to also be in the public eye constantly
