I think you need to look at it this way. if you want to coach international rugby what are your options? Razor has ABs locked up for four years Farrell not leaving Ireland (Schmidt already done that) England just hired borrhwick so lower odds you get a shot there France isn’t hiring someone not...

I think that’s the point of centralization RA now basically has two franchises in Sydney and Melbourne that it can achieve operating efficiencies with and provide better scale to sponsors etc. Brumbies should come on board. There’s a greater chance they fold as is than get relocated by RA...

I understand your point I just don’t see how it’s valid. If there is a rugby loving population in a city that supports 90k attendance figures why do we care where they immigrated from? They like rugby and now they can view rugby. This likely also sees them participate in and support local rugby...

A fair few would be emigrants but they are living in Melbourne and supporting rugby in Melbourne…..kind of a weird question. Let’s carve out the islander supporters at a Gold Coast game….

I think bledisloe crowds in Melbourne have increased to the point of 90k from circa 60k which is the inverse of Sydney isn’t it? See what comes of this news but this would be a management issue mostly. I mean can you argue with the logic of having a team in the largest city that has generally...

I was just pointing out that reducing players is silly and results in a completely different game. If you want more space there’s an easier solution. My points re speeding up stoppages and stopping clock where appropriate I think are complete common sense - occurs in every other sport

Aren’t the rebels on board with centralizing? Why would they need to play hardball. Every indication has been rebels would be next

Easier change would be to widen the sidelines by half a metre

Knock on advantage equals 5 or 10m Penalty advantage = 15 or 20m For both you have max three 3️⃣ phases or 20 seconds Don’t make it, ball comes back.

Use it lose it would encourage more ball running or attacking kicking I guess. There’s 5-7 easy tweaks that could be made

agree on the water boy front. when did they start running all over the field and creating water breaks. if you are thirsty, there are times when play has stopped and you can call for water (after a try is scored) or if there is an injury that is stopping the game. otherwise - if you really need...

the nfl is attractive because it has many of the best athletes in the world playing a fast paced game that when it is on, it is basically just action. Canadian Football League (CFL) is materially less popular on a relative basis in Canada mainly because 1) the structure of the game is inferior...

I would also add that you can take about fan engagement all you want and social media and whatever else, but if you draw people in, without good product you aren't going to keep them. so fix the game first, draw people in and keep them there with good product. when it is good, it is very good...

honestly just make it a 30 second advantage and if it comes back - tack that 30 seconds onto "injury time".

injured players is tough cause safety has to be paramount for the injured player so getting off the field not always easy. i suppose in the instance you can't get yourself off the field, the game could be stopped, you get off and a free kick to the team that had the ball with a sub coming on...

Agreed The current advantage setup can be ridiculous. You have three phases to advance 10-15m if you don’t the penalty comes back. Some of these absurd advantages are absurd in length of time.

I’d be shocked if someone isn’t saying let’s speed up the game and up ball in play. I would have clocks to get set for a line out and if you delay beyond that it’s a free kick to the opposite team. Same story on scrum and the clock doesn’t start until the ball is fed into the scrum Keep the...

Absolutely. Focus on our own backyard. There is going to be natural crossover among players which usually favors us and just leave it at that. If someone steps up and says “I want to switch” well then deal with it but targeted poaching leads to a tit for tat scenario and the entity with the most...
