Brumby Runner? I kid, I kid. Love you BR. The forum wouldn't be the same without him.

Without having thought about it too much I think alongside the under 16/19s is pretty good timing. Super Rugby finishes, players go back to club rugby for the back end of the season and finals and then you run this comp (which is presumably only for a month or so). That way it's clearly an add...

Bill Murray would absolutely save this thread.

I'm glad you've uncovered the angle for Brumby Runner to blame the Waratahs for losing Angus Staniforth, just like they were the main culprits for Mack Hansen going overseas.

An NRC replacement would obviously be ideal. We are really missing it. I disagree on Mosese. You seem to be rating a performance in a trial game as showing more than players who have performed well at times at test level. In the limited opportunities he had at Super Rugby level you couldn't say...

Should they have been Super Rugby starters before they left ahead of current Wallabies though? That's largely what it boils down to. I don't think it's really worthwhile looking at whether they would have more opportunity at a different side. It's become very clear with most of these...

This is absolutely true. I don't think there's a reasonable argument that we're picking the wrong players though. No one would suggest the Brumbies should select Angus Staniforth at fullback over Tom Wright because there's a risk Staniforth might head overseas if he doesn't get a decent amount...

There's no lack of talent identification. Tuipulotu was part of the Rebels academy as a teenager and a full time professional from the age of 21 with the Waratahs. Everyone knew who he was. The Phil Kearns story is also complete revisionism. The second grade Randwick straight into the Wallabies...

    Wallabies 2024

He's fine. He didn't play much Super Rugby because he was stuck behind Wallbies Izaia Perese and Lalakai Foketi as well as Joey Walton at times (who is in the Australia XV squad). It wasn't like he looked like the best option when he did play. Harry Wilson also left to seek more opportunity...

It's obviously hyperbole but it's clearly an issue that such a key position is also one of our weakest. We have several players of similar standard but no one that is close to being elite in the test arena.

Is he actually ahead of Flook if the intention is for Potter to be outside the matchday 23 for the Wallabies and for Flook to play two games at 13 for the Australian XV?

This is a pretty perfect encapsulation of the internet.

I think it's reasonable to assume that if we didn't have the XV tour at the same time, a few of the players in that squad would replace players at the back end of the Wallabies squad (probably including Potter).

It's good to play with lots of players and learn what you can from everyone around you, particularly those who have played professional rugby for over a decade like Bryn Hall. Bryn Hall has won four Super Rugby titles and been part of that Crusaders dynasty. He's obviously a player that lots...

How is that your takeaway from the quote? You would assume that another halfback with over 120 Super Rugby caps also has something of value to add, particularly as the only halfback with any experience Edmed has ever played with is Gordon.

    Rugby 7s general chat

It was absolutely that as well. I do think things have changed pretty substantially since 2018 and the economic benefits calculation is always incredibly rubbery. It doesn't bode well for the future of the Comm Games given the substantially reduced 2026 schedule in Glasgow and the lack of any...

    Rugby 7s general chat

The sooner they just scrap the Comm Games altogether the better. I think ultimately Victoria did every future potential host a favour by opting out and shining a light on how much of a white elephant it is now days. It absolutely sucks for all the athletes who now miss one of their few...

    Wallabies 2024

I wonder if there will be any crossover from the XV squad after their two games? It does seem like a few players might have been swapped so they are starters in the XV squad rather than depth in the main squad. I.e. is Pollard ahead of Nasser now or is Nasser in the XV squad because Schmidt...

Harry Potter the biggest bolter in the main squad!

There are absolutely people out there who believe he should play Shute Shield games before earning selection for the Waratahs. These people are not serious.
