The 32 year old Pete Samu who currently isn't in his team's top side?

"The 2023 Rugby World Cup in France is the last under the old World Rugby model, where the host paid a fee and kept all ticketing revenue. For 2027, Rugby Australia has struck a revenue share agreement as a minority partner in a joint venture hosting deal with World Rugby. The amount and/or...

    Australian Rugby / RA

The RWC is a joint venture between the local union and World Rugby. There is a payment negotiated as part of that. It's not a monetary gift. It's literally how the home nation makes money out of the RWC. The previous model whereby the host nation pays a fee to World Rugby to host the cup and...

It would obviously be great to be able to get a look at Skelton, Philip, and the Arnolds to see how they're going but likewise we don't suddenly start being able to select 50 player squads because we want to compare the overseas guys with the local guys.

It takes the proper business acumen to understand that if you flog the company credit card on the way out the door it's the other stakeholders that have to pay the bill.

What was it that McLennan did exactly that you are supportive of?

Maybe if we still had McLennan he could look at sacking Joe Schmidt and paying him out and then paying Japan so we can recruit Eddie Jones.

    Waratahs 2025

Given that the average contract length is probably two years (aside from rare ones, most contracts are 1-3 years in length) it makes sense that you would need to re-sign close to half your squad each season. Who have the Waratahs retained from 2024 who needed a new contract? Bowen, Wilson...

He's not kicking for it to be contestable which was the crux of the discussion. He's kicking it because he sees space there and thinks we can get the ball back. Obviously it worked but likewise a very risky play.

Yeah, no. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that the kick pass is just meant to go to your player and not be contested.

    Wallabies 2024

Sorry, I vehemently disagree with you. The clearing kick from inside our 22 was caught on the full on the touchline 10m inside the Pumas half. It was surely one of our longest clearing kicks of the day. He kicked it as far as he could. If anyone else wants to chip in here to help identify some...

    Waratahs 2025

How many players were the Waratahs not able to re-sign because RA had to make room for players that they were already on the hook to pay? I agree that the Waratahs have a stronger squad for 2025 than they had for 2024 but they also had to let a whole lot of long term players leave such as Harry...

    Wallabies 2024

How many clearance kicks from within the 22 are ever designed to be contestable? It was a 45m kick. It was fielded by the Pumas player 10m inside their half. I can't think of the last time I have seen a team try and kick a contestable kick from inside their own 22. The Pumas caught the...

    Wallabies 2024

No issues with the Pumas player kicking 25 metres downfield and none of our player's contesting it? I'd suggest that had a far bigger impact on us conceding the try than the clearing box kick. It was from 5 metres inside out 22 and was caught 10 metres inside the Pumas half. It was never meant...

Apparently Mark Nawaqanitawase benched 170kg in the lead up to the Olympics which amazed everyone. No wonder he's so strong in contact.

    Shute Shield 2024

I'm not sure if things have changed now but all the CAS/GPS schools in the east at least stopped kids playing club rugby (at least the good players, they couldn't have cared less if I had continued) after about year 8. In those days the rep side was Easts/Randwick which basically included all...

I'm hesitant to jump on the Will Chambers discussion but it's worth mentioning he came to rugby union as a 21 year old and was back in rugby league as a 23 year old. All his representative rugby league happened after he returned to league where he was pretty reasonably judged as an excellent...
