    Chiefs v Reds 5.05pm Friday 12/05 - New Plymouth

If reds had lost i probably would have been on here bemoaning the referee's performance. He was largely fine but he definitely missed 3 or 4 crucial calls which should have gone in favour of the reds including a rather cynical early tackle on a runaway mcreight and a clear scrum penalty for the...

Hard to disagree with that but im sure someone on the thread will

    Chiefs v Reds 5.05pm Friday 12/05 - New Plymouth

Had to come on and say a few things after a win like that. Some random thoughts: 1. Great win, not only for qld rugby but australian rugby in general. We really needed to see at least one aussie team get a win over one of the top kiwi sides in new zealand to give the players some belief...

I gotta say i dont get why wilson misses out and a guy likely hanigan makes it

    Wallabies 2023

Not sure if this has been discussed but lolesio's absence is interesting to me...its likely that jones got a good read on him after the england series last year and is passing on him. Iv always been a lolesio supporter but honestly the fact that he's sharing duties with jack for brumbies isnt...

    Wallabies 2023

I actually thought the guys on the nrl broadcast tonight and the players after the game tonight handled the whole thing with class. Even brandon smith took the chance to retract his earlier statement.

At this rate I'd probably prefer McReight or Samu (depending on the make up of the rest of the pack). I'd say both are more effective than Hooper in particular aspects of their game (McReight at the breakdown and Samu in the collision)

    Wallabies 2023

Does anyone else have question marks over Hooper? I thought he was pretty ineffectual for the wallabies last year and he's not really setting the world on fire for the Tahs either. He doesn't seem to be much of a threat at the breakdown and he's not as effective with ball in hand as he was in...

    Wallabies 2023

100%. the reaction of the NRL coaches and administrators to losing one player to Rugby (a player that always had rugby aspirations might I add) is a bit embarrassing honestly. Everything from Gould claiming "good riddance" to Sualli's own team mate essentially implying he's a glorified winger...

Super Rugby Pre-Season Trial: Force v Reds

Any chance the game will be viewable online?

Gamble certainly looked like the pick of the 7s last year. We not only the most physical 7, but also way more effective over the ball compared to Hooper. Will be interesting to see if he can continue that form in 2023.

Not sure I hate this as much as a lot of you. Probably a bit tough on Rennie given the injury crisis he's had to deal with this past year but honestly its difficult to defend his win/loss record (losing the England series was a disaster regardless of injuries) and he's was clearly heading out...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I don't have a strong view on who the next wallabies coach should be but I'm pretty confident RA will be wanting to appoint a formidable coaching team with strong credentials from 2024 leading up to the world cup and there doesn't seem to be a lot of options in that regard. I'm not sold on...

    Wallabies 2023

I largely agreed with your breakdown here, although it seems to be written on the assumption that Rugby Australia is going to scrap the eligibility laws (at least in their current form). Have they announced any change? If not I can't see either Skelton or Foley making the squad if...

Wallabies v Wales, Principality Stadium, Sun 27th November, 2.15am AEST

Re the locks...at his best I think Swain has the highest upside, but I share others' reservations about whether he's going to be a laiblity at a world cup. If I had to choose a squad tomorrow I'd probably go with Neville, Frost, Swain as my first three choices. For me the fourth spot probably...

Australia A v Japan XV matches

I actually like what we've seen from Vunivalu over the last two games. He didn't really have too many opportunities to shine on the weekend but what we did see was generally very good. He again showed he's comfortable under the highball, a talent that will be crucial for wingers at the world...

    Wallabies 2023

Is Gamble eligible? I think one of the things that hurt us against england was not having a genuine jackal in the side. Hoopers never been an out and out 7, but in super rugby he was considerably less threatening at the breakdown compared to previous seasons. Im not sure whether thats the new...

I agree with this. As a commerical lawyer who's dealt with my share of sports agents, iv long held this view. I can possibly see the value for very young guys who are new to the scene, agents can give them guidance on their market value, who to talk to, what they can and cant expect. There's...

Wallabies v Springboks - Adelaide Oval, Sat 27th August, 2022

Tbh iv kind of been rolling my eyes at the narrative that he's the world best winger but after tonight its hard to argue he's not on the short list
