Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Schmidt has covered why the Big Willys of the World have not been picked; poor timing from France. The situation has been compounded as we have two of them knock themselves out within 10 minutes of each other in one game. Given the 6 day turn around, there was bugger all time to integrate...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Fatty - Williams and Frost will be out this week as they have concussion protocols to go through. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Blyth, Canham are then only designated second rowers fit for this weekend. Then you have Wilson, Bobby V, Uru, Reimer, Tizzano and Hooper to pick for the back row and finishers.

Putting the whole argument on whether GPS schools should have a league competition and how it fits (considering QLD recently changed the structure of the sports to allow Football in term 2 and Rugby in term 3 to help with field issues). I find the whole contracting of minors at such a young age...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

I don't recall seeing Lukan fall off tackles from the ground. Looking at the stats alone could be quite misleading as some of those tackles could have been from broken play. The biggest missed tackles came from Alan and Slipper who both fell off their man.

After last week's showing, you can't have both Hooper and Tizzano in the same pack. Tizzano reminds me of M Hooper but unable to have as big of an impact. I would be putting Blyth into the second row with Hooper or Uru at 7. With how often the Boks slow the game down, we do not need a mobile 7...

Only people I saw wearing check shirts yesterday were the country boys and corporates. The rest was a sea of green with gold sprinkled throughout it. There really was bugger all to cheer about yesterday. The 24k we had for the Welsh was louder as the Reds gave the public something to cheer for.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

We saw that "open running rugby" does not work in todays modern game in the latter part of Chiekas years where we would run it from inside our own 22, knock it on and then conceed points. You can run if you have front foot ball i.e. getting over the gain line with quick recycle coupled with...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Unsure what I expected. But, after seeing Taniela and Bell warm up with the squad, part of me thought there had been late substitutions and both were in the 23. When they didnt come back out with the team I think that's when it all went downhill. Having a scrum that much of a liability was...

Frost, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Bobby V and Wilson have been decent.

AAA has fallen off two tackles that have lead to tries. Just so bloody poor today.

    Queensland Reds 2025

Well, if we look at stats alone, you can clearly see how skewed it is. He's effectively played half a game of rugby across those 29 matches. On the wing. How many tries are you expecting him to have scored? I am not fully disagreeing with the overall point you're trying to make, just the...

Of those 29 matches, how many has Mac started? Prior to the last year or two, he was coming on with 20-10 minutes of a game left. Bloody harsh on a young kid. Anyway, he scored against the Welsh, so moot point.

Guess that explains the hoarding of blokes who can play 6!

Given Henry and Petaia are made of glass, so much so, that you'd almost count on them not being available. With that in mind it makes sense to have an over abundance of outside backs

Very illuminating article with Ryan Smith on why he didn't get picked vs Blyth https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/08/03/never-one-to-give-up-smith-reveals-why-he-missed-out-on-wallabies-debut-amid-roller-coaster-six-weeks/ " Some of the stuff was just across defensive structure and fitting in...

    Queensland Reds 2025

So we got a members email today saying "At 10am tomorrow morning, a BIG new signing will be officially announced to join our 2025 Queensland Reds Super Rugby Pacific squad." Odd timing to do any type of announcement, a Saturday morning. Any ideas?

Mason made the field for the Reds in both the Welsh and Tonga games.

Carter and his partner wanted to return home after a shit couple of years. The Reds couldn't accommodate him leaving him to look at NRL to stay professional and in Queensland (although you could probably say the Broncos are looking for a Reynold replacement).

Healthy or match fit though? I think there are valid reasons to include Bell in the training squad, but he should also be trying to get some minutes through club land. By including Bell in the named squad, it drops a fit player like Hodgman out which is detrimental to the Wallabies...

Has Bell returned yet at club level? Seems crazy to parachute him in.
