Meant to be a one liner. Would have been great to see the Dirty Reds at Leichardt sadly I am blowing the whistle elsewhere. Hopefully they draw a crowd. NSW Rugby have assigned a Shute Shield referee (Dylan Sigg, ex Manly) for the match. Both teams need a win.

Not the point. Try calling the Wallaroos a curtain raiser/opener when they play before a test match, or when the Super W was on before a Super Rugby match previously. Powers that be were at pains to explain that it wasn't.

    Sydney Subbies 2022

As it is a men's game, can we call it a curtain raiser now?

Colleagues 3 of 6 against Mosman though picked up Colts, 2nd, & 1st Grade. Thoroughly dominated Mosman in Kentwell. 38-0 could have been more, seemed to ease off with 20mins to go. Is it correct there was only 1 Sutherland Cup match yesterday? Hopefully it is just a weather thing.

Woollahra council as usual, all grounds open except the Rugby fields, Rushcuttters Bay and Woollahra 2. Only Sydney council to make the call on Fridays and no further inspections till Monday. Hopefully Colleagues v Mosman can re-locate. Update- Rawson Oval is open, hopefully they can switch it...

    Sydney Subbies 2022

Well Div 2 is not off to a good start for round one as many predicted. Status is as per the confirmed referee appointments as per Friday evening. Weather aside, this still does not take in no-shows, or numbers playing multiple games. Am I right in thinking Western Raptors only have 3rds & Colts...

    Sydney Subbies 2022

I agree, Div 1 is also for aspirational players who cannot necessarily commit to the training etc of SRU. It would be a completely independent competition with more in common with SRU than a regional Subbies comp. Do we just undo the 1993 second division merge into Subbies? Then grade can have...

@Mangoman I think your onto something here. Any detractors? Let's have at it and put it to the test.

    Sydney Subbies 2022

Has merit. Not sure if I would keep a non geographical competitive division at the top, or a div 2 to premiership div 1 like the old days. A geographical structure could help in marketing the game in each region with the competitions better focused in surrounding communities. Kentwell Cup could...

Not looking good for many trial this weekend. Expect a lot of washouts. Div 4 and below draw still not available?

    Southern Inland Rugby 2022

This is atrocious. Bullied off the forum for making a fair and reasonable observation. As a referee who busted a gut running 23kms worth of games on the weekend, I have to agree. Under no circumstances should a mid-teens person be AR for a first grade match. At the very least club needs to...

    Southern Inland Rugby 2022

Major Differences Flying Wedge - 2 or more pre-bound to ball carrier before contact. Pre-Latched player must stay on feet or get out of the way immediately. 50-22 this is going to be a challenge in lower grades without good assistance from ARs. Goal Line Dropout - Going to take some getting use...

    Sydney Subbies 2022

Got the full draws for Div. 1 & 2. Combining them all so I can select a date/week and easily see what games are on and maybe do a bit of travelling to NSW Country for a game or two. Interesting how some of the country comps start relatively early.

    Sydney Subbies 2022

The is not really a forum for this, though it includes Subbies. Round 1 (1st Grade) games for (NSW+SIRU) competitions where I can find a published draw. Central Coast Rugby Union - (waiting draw) Central West Rugby Union - 23rd April (waiting draw) New England Rugby Union - (waiting draw)...

    Sydney Subbies 2022

To be clear comments above were relating to Prem clubs. The guys leaving your club would not be if the Easts roster was full, and they would likely be paying 4x as much to be selected under a roster cap. As a Subbies club the incentive would be to play rugby in a competition that is boosted due...
