Western Force 2026

NPC might be the place to find some guys for next season. Not sure many in Super Rugby Aus are available. Reds and Brums are playing mostly signed guys and NSW in the same boat of needing backrow depth so would likely have first crack at the guys they have played in games like Frans.

Force should be on the hunt for some Aussies in the Welsh meltdown that may occur. Ryan Smith, Max Douglas would make any side immediately stronger.

Tim Horan (67)
Vaiuta Latu would be the ideal replacement as a 6 / 8.
I think it's probably a year or two early for him at super level, you wouldn't want to see much more than a few bench stints from him just yet. Fitness is a big work on. I also think he's probably going to be hard to lure away from QLD just yet, given he has only just emerged on the scene. In a year or two if he finds himself blocked than he'd be ripe for the picking, but right now not so much.

From QLD they'd have an easier time getting Kohan Herbert or a guy like Muller who is getting closer to his make or break year, but they're less perfect replacements. Chalyton Frans in NSW is the other that would be a more ready to go pickup, but seeing as the decks have been cleared at NSW he might want to try his luck at home first. he migth end up a bit more available if Lachlan Hooper is making his way to the tahs post NRC though.

I have mentioned him before here. Arese Poliko the blindside flanker for Taranaki is Australian-born but grew up in Samoa/NZ. He is a big athletic backrower. Got good hands and his work rate is good. Would fit in really well at the Force. Similar to Hoskins Sotutu at the Blues and Ekuasi at the Force.

Force need some more good forwards..
Do we? Pretty happy with our lock and backrow stocks. Williams, Swain and Molina are all international quality, and could mean we'll see Williams at 6 or 8 a bit. That would cause havoc with a lot of opposition lineouts.

CDC, Tizzano, Harris, Ekuasi, Koteka and Nofoagatotoa is a strong backrow squad as well.

Another quality prop or two would be great given our injury problems there the last few seasons. But then again, surely we're due for more luck in that area....?

I think the Force are actually looking pretty good for next year, about 14 test players in the 23, and nearly all of these guys in the squad last year:

1 - Pearce
2 - BPA
3 - Robertson
4 - Swain
5 - Williams
6 - Harris
7 - Tizzano
8 - CDC
9 - Hastie
10 - Donaldson
11 - Pietsch
12 - Stewart
13 - Keunzle
14 - Bridge
15 - Grealy

16 - Dolly
17 - Hoopert
18 - HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes)
19 - Molina
20 - Ekuasi
21 - Robertson
22 - Burey
23 - Lancaster

These types of contracts are interesting as I don't know how strictly enforced they are but they're good for retaining talent in the sport as a whole.

Hadley Tonga was on the same with the Tahs but not seen with the Tahs at all. Probably not needed with outside back numbers right now and his own injury troubles.

Good place for the kid though. Build the engine, likely play with the U20s then back end of next year Super Rugby Aus.

Did we ever see Tonga play for U19s?

This kid has a bit of Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow about him with the way he glides around the park. Heck of a boot on him too. Great signing for RA and Force.

My understanding is some of these contracts are being funded by Government programs with Indigenous and Torres Straight Islander kids. The Gage Phillips one is definitely one of these. Not sure on Wallace Charlie.
