ACT Brumbies 2026

The Ghost of Raelene

John Eales (66)
If I was the Brums I would be approaching the Tahs about a guy like Hendren. He looks ready to start Super Rugby games.

If I'm the Tahs I play hard ball and probably say no since I want my 22 year olds but the outside backs are pretty stocked.

Well yes it has vibes of a 80s British Comedy.

Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall if these things came up. Player loans for a year etc. You need a 15, Tahs would be looking at Prop depth or backrow.

Does anyone think that the Brumbies are looking slightly thin in the outside backs for 2026? For the starting side they have wingers of probably Sapsford and Toole, with the fullback being Muirhead if he stays around. If Meredith shifts to fullback that puts a lot of strain on the flyhalf role with only Edmed left (Dillon is too young imo). Wilcox and Pritchard have bucket loads of talent but are still very young men and are still physically maturing as well as mentally. So with a starting backline of Lonergan, Edmed/Meredith, Toole, Feliuai, Creighton?, Sapsford, Murihead. The bench is Thorn, Edmed/Meredith, Mcleod/Pritchard/Wilcox? There doesnt seem to be much cover there at all. Unless people think that these young fellas are ready for big minutes. What happens if there is an inevitable injury?

In his interview before the first SRAus game, Larkham said he is still looking to fill two full contract spots and still needing injury replacements for Schoupp and Wright. Beyond the Wright replacement, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the two full time spots were in the outside backs area. Certainly, another prop would be needed to fill in for Schoupp, but otherwise the roster looks pretty good for numbers except out wide.

Hope someone's talking to the NSW fullback.

So potentially 3 more outside back inclusions? I agree Hendren is a possibility, he wont get much of a run at the tahs with the multitude of outside backs they have. Wonder if they will look overseas as well for an answer.

Likely two new signings incoming. With one from another Super Rugby Aus team and one from overseas? (maybe NPC). Outside backs are the obvious area that requires signings. Anyone think an extra second rower could come in?
George Poolman seems to have been loosely linked to Canberra, James Hendren from the Tahs, Reesjan Pasitoa at Northland, Lukas Ripley at Hawkes Bay. Will be interesting to see.

Hendren is the one in a lot of peoples minds through this comp that has shown he's ready for a start. Are loan deals on the cards?? I want him to play but as a Tahs fan also want him in Sky Blue eventually.

Poolman has put his best foot forward this comp but it's been in a position the Brumbies probably don't need. Hasn't shown that sort of form on the Wing. Ronan Leahy could be another who the Force haven't used last season but still got plenty of potential.

I can see Pasitoa having a Duncan Paia'aua type career. We'll never fully see it in Aus but he will make a good go of it somewhere once fit and stable.
