A new 10/12 combination that is a major step down in standard as we roll out in front of a sell out crowd, in the biggest, most fickle market

ffs

The timing sucks, but all for the right reasons to allow Ikitau's wound to heal for the Bledisloe, and give Edmed a start as there's a decent chance he might start the next test if Lynagh isn't fit and with JOC (James O'Connor) gone...

Not that concerned about Edmed. He's certainly not the answer at 10 we are looking for, and won't put any fear in the hearts of the opposition, but he's solid. He makes his tackles, has got a pretty fair boot and won't make any silly mistakes. While he doesn't have Lynagh's ceiling, he won't be much of a step down from Lynagh 2025.

His downside is his inability to provide any space for those around him

Not a massive Edmed fan but he didn't look out of place off the bench against South Africa. The combination (lack of) with Paisami probably a bigger factor than the individual

Yep, someone over at rugby.com.au obviously didn't fill in the 2pm publish time on the website VMS...

The article is now gone.

At least most of the team is there to keep continuity
Is AAA Avaialable? Preferable to have him over the other top, let’s hope tupou steps up this time
Frost is a loss but glad to see LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) there in the bench finally
Edmed and Paisami gives me shivers - won’t be expecting much from these guys let’s just hope they can get it abit wider for the back 3
Ikatau had been huge for us so he will be a loss

I think Hunter will go fine. I'm buying in that these guys are fully in on Schmidts system and they will look better slotting in than previous iterations.

Is he a step down from Len? Yes, but most Centres in the world are right now. Do the simple things well and work with JAS to create some space for Toole and Jorgo.
Pastrami (as my wife calls him) lacks Ikitau's finesse, but maybe his strength in contact will give us another attacking option.

Not having a crack at you specifically but your post does demonstrate that the selectors can’t really win.

People want to build depth in the 10 position and elsewhere. And I assume people want the welfare of our players protected.

But when the selectors make a change on the basis of two injuries we complain. Edmed gets a start in front of his home crowd at a ground where you assume he is most comfortable and Paisami, while not being Ikitau, is our next best option.
