Strong Friday night bias in the Tahs home games again, same as this season. I'm not sure that's great, but the consistency is good.
It makes it tricky for me to get up for home games when they're on Fridays. Will definitely need to book it in early.

Good for me, straight from work, tram to surry hills, Grifters and bad burger, then tram to ground

After watching the Shute Shield final, do we think there was any players worth getting the call up to the Tahs?

2, 8 and 10 for the Rats are my picks.

Good for him. Deserves a crack at higher honours. BPA won't feature at all so that leaves Dolly and Horton in the pro squad with Alcock, Barret and Megson in the Academy. Some of these guys may not be ready for it physically so an experienced Hooker makes sense.

Not the first time he's done this. Donny Freeman went to SA with the Force after good showings for Hunter.

Interested to see how teams approach this comp. Playing to win it and build into next year or is it to test players and let them show it in front of the coaches like NFL pre season when results mean nothing for some.

Horton has already left the Force and Dolly wasn't named in the Super Au squad (pretty sure he's out injured for a while). Alcock and Barret were the two hookers named in that squad, so Thomas should be a pretty good chance of getting a game if he shows well at training, particularly given how young those two are.

My bad on Horton. Just had a peruse of their site and he's still on there.

You'd think Wes starts when you are then leaning on 3 Academy players. Alcock has a lot to like about him though.

Getting off topic for the tahs thread at this point, but I imagine the focus will be on Alcock for them - he's been with the side a while now and looks like a very good prospect. He's just been elevated to the main squad for next year and at 22 he should be getting ready to make the step up. It's Barrett that Thomas will really be competing with for the 16 jersey in Super Au I think, but he makes a much better 4th string (pushing 3rd) option for next year than Barrett who is still very young and raw. Wouldn't be surprised to see them each get a game at 16 and then the best performer holds the spot for the 3rd game. Short comp makes it tricky though.

That's the rumour - they were both waiting for their respective club finals, which hopefully means there should be a few spots in each that were up for grabs for top club performers.

It's great to see, one of the things that really hurt the NRC was the tahs effectively finalizing their squad before hand without real opportunities for the club guys coming through. Having those spots open and the teams run by the super sides themselves should help send that signal that these are very real opportunities, even in such a short run comp.

Last years highest was a Saturday v the Brums but they got decent enough crowds on Fridays. Rugby does benefit from a lot of the Rugby population living around the East or North Shore which have good access to the city with Metro, light rail etc. Northern Beaches have it the hardest but good luck telling them to get PT.

The light rail from circular quay to Allianz has made getting in (and home) from the Northern Beaches much easier when combined with the Manly ferry. Both of which are free on match day except for the obligatory can of $11 4pines on the aforementioned ferry...
