sorry if the truth hurts , Cobber.
The truth was an old boy referreed. He rubbed out a fair try as held up. Awarded one the other way that shouldn't have been (tackler not releasing ala the Boks) and didn't keep proper time. And Joeys still almost lost! :D

Must have wanted it very badly.

Yep. Next year is going to come on much stronger than many expect. Riverview with that Joeys thing. Depth. And achieved without the interschool talent raids peppered through every age group, even the very young ones, that St Joseph's has so much come to reply upon for their "success".

Auggies says hi!

Interesting as well that Joeys has a newly found paucity of premierships in recent years since other AAGPS schools (to their eternal discomfiture) started imitating (and in some cases even amplifying) the Joeys playbook in earnest.

You can poach all the kids you like, but it's only 15 or so that matter.
Las comment Spoken like a Barker old boy of note

Multiple boys in those teams have junior league deals. Not sure if NSW is not aware or jusr looking past it to tap in.

At 16s they look past and let them play. No pro contracts have been signed and I think it's a good thing Rugby pick them and show interest.

Extraordinary depth but can’t bridge the success to the Waratahs and the Wallabies. Pathway problems….
If we just used that logic then Auckland should never lose a game of Rugby.

A lot comes from the ineptness of the pro side of the organisation. Once they graduate 18s they effectively become free agents in the marketplace and other sides like the Brumbies have pounced on a lot of the players with a very effective pro program.

As well as that, often half of the 16s players just won't kick on to that level due to a multitude of reasons.

these boys are only in Year 10 with plenty of rugby ahead of them, with opportunities to develop and shine for two more years of school rugby.
Joeys have 5 in the Waratahs U16 squad with 2 more in the shadow squad (including Lachlan Wallace), so will be looking strong for the next couple of seasons.
Is there a list of shadows somewhere? Would love to see who just missed out.

With the deadline fast approaching,
in years past this forum used to pick its “team of the year” based on which players made the biggest contribution to his team’s
season. Any thoughts?
Most Influential Players for their respective teams:
1) Hayden Lavercombe (K)
2) Xavier Goon (J)
3) Sebastian Conna (I)
4) Cameron Sticky (J)
5) Hamish Matthews (K)
6) Jackson Rodwell (S)
7) Charles Gyattas (J)
8) Archer Hartman (I)
9) Gus Grover (I)
10) Rex Bassingswaite (E)
11) Thomas Chunn (J)
12) Archer Hartman (I)
13 Charlie Francis (E)
14) Hemasi Makasini (Tigers)
15) Julian Mintoa (J)

Thoughts?

I would have Clout in there for Shore. Even though they didn’t go so well, if we are talking influence I have him in there. Over Francis & even Bassingthwaite because he only played 4 games at the end. High impact in every game with big hit ups & runs that he always came out better off in bar just about none. Underrated in the highly competitive no8 spot but so consistent for Shore, 1 of just 3 forwards to play the full season, despite having a few injuries and literal broken bones that he just seemed to stand back up from and play on.
