If we clear $115M from this tour and are in a position of net cash on hand in the $50M range, that’s pretty bloody good.
Do we have a sense if the women’s World Cup generates positive cash flow typically? Hopefully some full crowds at home tests.
Rugby Nations cup starting soon will spin money our way regularly and then the $100M+ from the World Cup in 2 years
There’s scope for us to actually be in a solid position. Not sure if nations cup can sustain us positive.

Well, the original Nations Cup deal on offer from Qatar was £800m. So a touch over $1.6b for hosting the final in Doha every two years. As one of the 10 owners of that venture our split could have between $160m over 8 years. So an extra $20m a year if broken down annually. Not including TV broadcast and revenue sharing a that's supposed to be part of the deal. The deal they went with after the backlash for the first year is worth from the little I've read is around 1/3 of the of the original deal to host the respective final if it were a one off event. So if Qatar has offered only £200m for the rights to host just the 2026 final. So around £60m. So it could be worth about $12m to us assuming its in fact the case.

I bring this up in light of Fiji having signed a deal with Qatar and having just finished watching the Lions tour sponsored by Qatar Airways. With little to no real issue with either from many Rugby fans.

And quickly. WR (World Rugby) also re-signed with Emirates recently. An airline owned by Dubai which was built using the same methods as Qatar has used with Doha but not a peep.

Qatar are doing the same as what Australia is doing in the pacific, using sport to advance geopolitical objectives.

The difference is human rights records, although depending which narrative you read, plenty of countries question Australia’s own human rights records as well.

Show me any major sporting organisation around the globe who is genuinely turning down money from these countries and I'll show you a liar.

Quite a few organisations trying to beat their chests about not playing in Qatar or not taking major sponsorship, but if they actually did some research they'd be amazed to find how many of their sponsors are actually being funded from the same place, just with a Western front.

A 5th team is further away now than it was 12 months ago. The abolishing of the Gits law will see some player movement over the next few years once the RWC dust settles.

Well, I should caveat that with, it depends on what they want to do with SRP (Super Rugby Pacific). If the model is to move to Aussie only then I can see a push for it happening.

The idea was having a second tenant at the ground would help secure state and local government investments in the venue.

To be fair not every ground has to be in the CBD. The SFS is better than a lot of the suburban grounds in Sydney and they still get state government money spent on them

not all need to be in CBD…. But at least those other Sydney ‘suburban’ stadiums are in urban hubs with access and ammenities .

Tarneit was an urban fringe, green-field development.

MacArthur FC was also backed by a property developer Walker Corporation(ironically a rugby union fan), but they played it a bit differently and pushed to play them at Cambleton Stadium an existing stadium in the area in order to get council buy in for approval of their developments in the region.

I don't think the Walker Corp. is involved in Macarthur FC anymore. Particularly since Lang's death. Which is why the proposed redevelopment of Campbelltown Stadium has seemingly disappeared.

No they sold out a few years back even before he passed away, Walker Corp were supporting the bid at a time they were also pushing a large number of developments through approvals in SW Sydney. It’s not the worst business model if it works.
