We have 32 year old Jake Gordon who keeps getting injured, Tate McDermott who is great off the bench but is never likely to be optimal as a starting test halfback and then a bunch of players with varying degrees of potential.

Teddy wilson looked sharp against Sydney Uni on the weekend. Think he'll be thereabouts in a couple of years. Certainly the Tahs first pick 9 once Jake retires.

Teddy Wilson will never be the in-your-face type of player that Nic White is and that is so effective at test level rugby. Which is why we should be keeping an eye on Louis Werchon as a potential test starter down the track. He has that abrasiveness that most No 9s would like to have but really don't.

I don’t know. For the Tahs he is in everything, much like Gordon. He looks strong as well. Werchon is stronger but maybe not as quick and intuitive yet.

I’m a big Werchon fan but he actually needs to cool his jets if anything. Should come with time. I don’t really think we need an in your face half back as such just blokes who are competitive and driven. This version of Nic white is a lot better than the previous version who used to piss off every ref

Argued with refs constantly. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want anyone in the fold to take a backwards step but you need to be liked or at least respected by the ref

I'd be more focused on trying to convince Bernie to play him at 12 - but with LK coming in, he may favour Paisami & Ikitau midfield anyway

Realistically if LK is coming in and blowing up the centres combo Schmidt will have put a years worth of reps incl. a Lions series (touch wood) so he can play Paisami, we are in serious trouble.

The whole point of putting kids in place is he is the most likely to build off what Schmidt has done.

Looking back now on the series I do think the coaching team should be given some credit. Most supporters would have taken 2-1 at start of series

There were a couple of questionable selections and possible error with holding back Skelton from first test but need to give them credit for a very good lineout (especially in second test when we only had 1 jumper) and the scrum was very solid.

I also think they did a good job of creating hunger in players like Pietsch, White, Hooper so when they got picked they were ready to tear strips off the lions

You have me a bit bemused here BR. You’ve often chipped Reds fans for talking up their players. But here you are plugging our third string half as a future Wallaby starter.

The kid has potential but also plenty of work ons. Abrasiveness is great - but he needs to goad the opposition into mistakes, not himself. Anyway, he’s only young and plenty of young firebrands have developed into outstanding rugby players. Let’s hope he is the same.

The discussion about Louis Werchon and Teddy Wilson kind of proves my point. Young players who have never played a test and have never been the first choice for their Super Rugby team don't count as us having depth at the position for the Wallabies.

We've literally just had to ask a guy to unretire from test rugby before he even played the game that was set to be his final test (we still pretended it was his final test).

He has to get his head to be in a calmer state (maybe get some meditation tips from JAS). Every time I see him play, his passes are sharp, his running lines are good, it also looks (in HC and for the Reds) like he can start punching blokes left and right. Not in a good way

Teddy should have been getting more minutes last year IMO. It's a problem that should be fixed if we can spread our halfbacks around. As a Reds fan I really like the look of Martens but if he's stuck behind the other 3, I fully support him going to the brumbs or force.
