Do any of you have any insight as to whether the post game timeframes for getting a train at Olympic Park station after the game are standard for high attendance games or if they were a unique function of the lightning delay?

I would be deeply concerned about the Semis, Bronze Medal and Final games if it's the former.

I read in an article they had scheduled train drivers during the time they thought it would finish roughly with the delay it meant that some of these drivers basically decided they were not working any longer.

It has been a while since I have tried to catch a train right after full time of a major event at Sydney Olympic Park but I would say 30+ minutes wait for a train wouldn't be unusual.

The waiting is to get each train load of people into the station and onto a train rather than it being a case of waiting for a train to turn up.

I wasn't tracking every minute between the drinking and the miserable weather, but per the phone timeline the old man and I left the ground pretty leisurely at about quarter to 11, joined the queue 5-10 minutes later, and didn't get on the train until midnight, with what I'd guess was at least another 3-4 trainloads of people on each side.

I'm obviously very biased in this regard so I'm trying to be fair re: the delays, but it was significantly more difficult and frustrating than the full house was in Brisbane or the MCG has ever been on an 85k+ crowd. Would be worried about the safety of the attendants if you're dealing with heavy drinking fans dealing with that 3+ times in a row.

Yeah, it's much more appetizing if you can offset the cost by going in with mates, possibly ideal if you do it with friends across cities. I have a feeling the 2027 of them will go pretty quickly though, even at $750 a pop

Just managed to jag a pass a few minutes ago. Shocking interface. Was saying no passes available, and then it eventually popped up as being available after refreshing the page a lot of times. Then kept taking me around in circles for my details until I tried pressing on the bag/checkout icon in the top right corner and managed to complete the purchase.
Worth trying the same if you manage to get through.

I wasn't there on Saturday night, but I've been to plenty of big games there and caught the event bus home to the north-west - I don't think I've ever had to wait more than about 20 min in a queue there, they stack up a huge number of buses.

Coldplay there last year was a nightmare to get home. That was a packed house maybe more than a game being a concert. From my understanding you either leave early or stay there for a while after.
Easy solution is just have a fleet of busses at the opposite to the train station and funnel people back to the city from there. It must be too hard.

RE Superpass, looks like it can be used to buy 4 tickets for 'friends and family', so you don't need to go yourself with 3 others to each game where you bought the tickets in the superpass pre-sale.
