(sigh of relief) Its good to be back. hehe. Been a roller coaster of emotions. Anyway, opinions on the so called "shocking" last couple games from young Geroge Hales? hehe.

Regards, PP
Greetings Forum,
Bill here, avid GPS rugby fan.
PP,
The last few games from the so called prod have been nothing short of dreadful.

TGS smashed with 2 blows, keegan cook and ethan ramsay out this weekend against a strong BGS side. BGS could be in for a shock upset, young Hiscock and Craig Thaggard join the side at 7 and 6 respectively. Petelo Maka dropped to seconds and Matty Johnston and Isiah Wuruki on either wings. Personally i’ve always seen Petelo playing in the 13 role rather than on the wing. BGS will be strong and could pull it off.

Great post GN - two rounds down and it's a very close competition with any team able to have an upset this year. Nudgee would have you believe they are shoe in's this year and given their pre season started in 1977, they could be right. They are a very classy set up. However there are others in the mix this year. For the first time in many years The TGS team is playing with energy and fire and giving their school a real hope for a premiership. I am unsure if the can challenge Nudgee but they certainly have shown everyone in the first two weeks they can if they want it badly enough. TSS is star studded team, who have failed to show the promised form, but lord save the team who comes up against them when they find it - they are hungry for the win and I suspect they will be ruthless when they do . Speed and size to burn - they will come good. Churchie is the dark horse this year with few real stars maybe 2 or 3 , but would be the best drilled team in the comp and operate as a tight unit hunting in a pack. I will like to see more of their early form shown in week 1. Hungry and ruthless. BBC is also a very highly fancied outfit , whose momentum was stymied in week 1 by TGS. Again temporarily out of form but again like TSS , capable of beating anyone on their day and by a big score. Gregory Terrace remind of the old "never say die" Irish forward packs. Not the most athletic or pretty team but certainly have ticker, hang in there , will never give up ..... and how they will throw the Kitchen sink at Nudgee this year. They will get a surprise scalp perhaps this season. BSHS and IGS are the big bopper teams, who will leave few ice packs unused in opposition sheds this year. IGS could certainly match the favourites Nudgee physically this year, but I am unsure they can go 70 min full tilt. Still they are classy enough to pull up a big upset. BGS are the rebuilders and this BGS team is a big leg up in quality on recent years and will be at least competitive this year against all teams. Wouldn't we all like to see them have a big win this year. I hope that summary of my view only, help bring you back into the loop.
Thank you so much my friend, this season appears to be closer then many recent years. I cannot wait to see how the season plays out, I'm heading down to the Nudgee vs Ipswich game this weekend as part of their annual grandparents day. From what you said it sounds like it should be a cracker of a game. I will let you know my thoughts.
Once again thank you so much for your summary.

Kindly,
GN

Thanks BBB. Glad to see another man to confirm. hehe. But in all seriousness, I don't know what Adrian Tompson is doing down there at Tennyson, but whatever it is, it is clearly not working. Good cattle in the GT squad but just can't follow through on Saturdays. Anyone got thoughts on this? hehe.

Regards, PP.
Hey PP,

Watching the Terrace team it does seem like they have some good cattle indeed, some big boys out their like the fabled Charlie Hollyman and One of those Weird twins I think it is. But to me it seems like they lack a sense of tikka and school spirit. Back in the day teams would do anything to win but it seems now that this Terrace team is to concerned about getting hurt to put their body on the line. Whilst they have some talent in their forwards and backs such as the big terror Frank the tank and the chop tackle merchant Archie 'relationship meistro' Illiot, I think the boys just lack chemistry with eachother and cannot bring together cohesive attack structures and work for each other on defence. It pains me to say it but Terrace have fallen off since the good old days and I wish they would grow a set of gonads and go out their and bang for eachother. It is appalling that in such a good year of GPS with so many good teams that some of those boys it seems cannnot be bothered to compete and would rather save themselves to make some rep sides.

Anyways just some food for thought there, keen to hear what some other people think of this Terrace team
Cheers,
RHH

A lot of new names in this forum since I last checked. Good to see the forum growing, but I wonder why the accounts were all made last night?
I tremble at the signs lads… the ghost of ‘QLD GPS 2025’ (R.I.P.) seems to be creeping into this fresh shrine. Would hate to witness another catastrophic collapse in the sacred temple of Schoolboy Rugby forums. One more dark day and we'll need a royal commission.

Talk about dribble... reminds me of the last forum before it got shut down. Stick to footy talk
Alrighty men I'm more than happy to kick off this footy yarn, let's talk game of the round. Two fixtures have my attention...

Nudgee vs IGS
Bit of a blockbuster brewing here. Nudgee's coming off a bye with some pent-up aggression, while IGS are strutting around like they've already booked the premiership parade. Tyson Walker will finish 2nd best to Archie Mesritz, case closed.

TGS vs BGS
Word on the street is BGS have unlocked some kind of ancient rugby magic, possibly buried under their Maths textbooks. They've gone from being dubbed the "Study XV" and "ATAR Grammar" (I won't say the full nickname) to actually putting some points on the board. However, i think the boys from out west will show up.

Thoughts?

Agreed, both games will be exciting to watch. Ippy have a really good chance to crush Nudgee's premiership dreams, while Grammar have nothing to lose yet everything to prove against Toowoomba. Another fixture I'm excited to see is GT vs TSS. GT had a close game with BBC, and I believe that if they carry that momentum to their game against TSS will give them their first tally in the win column. Just my opinion, though.

Putting this behind us, what are your score predictions for the weekend? Any upsets?
Only upset on the cards would be GT getting up

Tough loss out at Miskin last weekend, but the men in red and black definitely had a crack

With both TSS and GT being 0-2 it will be interesting to see who will take out their first win of the season.

GT by 5

I'm tipping an upset at Gaza this weekend. Think GT are due for a win after a disappointing start to the season. Also think that IGS could cause a bit of trouble at Gallipoli. Think they're damaging backline could cause Nudgee some troubles. Wouldn't be shocked if they came away with the W.
Couldn't agree more Julie. I think the likes of Walker, Coombes and Rakuita will cause some real trouble for the Nudgee outside backs. The grade 10 Barry Takuala was impressive against BSHS, so will be an interesting matchup between him and Rakuita on Ross.
