As someone who's never been to ChCh, what's it like as 'a destination' for such an event? The appeal about Super Round in Melbourne (and Magic Round in Brisbane) is that the rugby can very easily become almost secondary to the rest of the weekend's activities.

Christchurch is a nice place to base yourself out of for some of the hikes and sights around the region, I wouldn’t stay a long weekend just in Christchurch.

There’s some decent little bar areas, but not a lot of short-stay accommodation or hotels available which is the bigger issue for these events. Compound this with limited flights, and the premium created by limited supply will make It an expensive weekend for a tourist IMO

Yep but it is in reality a 10 15 minute (at most) to city centre. We were 2 blocks from new stadium and it was just as close to city as us, and took me and Mrs (a couple of old buggers taking time) about 10 minutes walk to cathedral etc.

It would be proably less than from say Queen St in Brissy to Suncorp. Bit of a guess as I never tried walking from Queen St to Suncorp, to bloody far!!

Though I not sure I would be keen on weekend events there for a while anyway (I not a Chch fan anyway)

About five minutes walk from the Riverside Markets, which is where all the pre-match festivities are likely to happen. Chch is pretty bloody good these days.

Gardner once again proving that he is the standards leading referee in this competition over the weekend. Hopefully sanity prevails and he is rewarded once again with the final, even if they decide to "reward" others with Semi's this weekend.

I'm a massive Angus Gardner fan, he doesn't get every decision right, but he is consistent, communicates decisions well and is level-headed.
