NSW AAGPS 2025 (banter and commentary)

Was lucky enough to watch Shore Vs Grammar yesterday.
Grammar started well, they had a clear tactical game of kicking to corners and winning field position. They did this perfectly at the start frustrating the shore team. In the second half Shore were way too good, with their backs dominating Grammar. Concerning signs for Grammar but promising for Shore
I've heard whispers that this Grammar age group are one of the worsts that the school has produced in a long time. Promising to see that they were able to put up somewhat of a fight in the first half. I understand that they may not be contending for the Premiership like last year, but for the sake of high competition this year, hopefully Grammar can win a few games.

*ALLEGATIONS*

I have some insider information towards some players from SHORE. Some Seconds XV maybe First XV, have used performance enhancing drugs such as, steriods.
Shore has a proud rugby tradition—built on discipline, teamwork, and decades of hard-fought respect in the GPS competition. But recent whispers about steroid use among some players threaten to stain that legacy. Using performance-enhancing drugs isn’t just cheating—it’s dangerous. It sends the wrong message to younger boys who look up to 1st XV players, turning rugby from a game of character into a competition of shortcuts. Steroids don’t just boost muscle—they destroy fairness, endanger health, and undermine the hard work of clean athletes.Shore rugby should be about earning your spot, not injecting your way there. If the team wants to win with integrity, it starts by calling this out—not staying silent.

The size of the Shore team says otherwise...

Will the @Joker be in attendance at the scots main for this coming Thursday? Both teams eager to get their second win in the 1sts.
I shall. Haven't set foot on the oval for a long time.
Hope to sell a few copies of my book as well.

Joeys 2nds are an impressive lot. The game plan they play is different than the 1st's. The overall principal is not to let the ball stop. The back up support is impressive as many players where able to get a ball away to running support player. They are a selfless team I feel who celebrate the process involved in a try rather than the bloke who put it down. They are the closest example I have seen of a Brother Henry team. Even those senior to me who saw the Br. Henry principle in action agreed this team seems to be using the ideals of fast running, support always and speed, speed, speed. Kings were not a bad team, they were simply blown away. Congratulations to the two old boy coaches.
Very similar structure to that of the great Galloping Greens of the 1980 ball in hand and support everywhere. Hope the health is on the up Joker.

Apparently the Grammar 1st XV opted for uncontested scrums as they have no props! This is ridiculous at any level, let alone a 1st XV team. There has to be some enforcement or new rules where teams cannot just avoid an area of weakness.

Heard a rumour, Sheck is out for the season and Makasini not too sure. Not much of a reply here.

I dont think Scheck is gone for the season. There was chat on the sideline that both starting props might be available for Kings this week, but not entirely sure. Makasini should be abck Thursday unless it clashes with league game lol

Yes towards the end of the game, he called it a hip drop tackle.

He seems to be the only ref in world rugby who is yellow carding people. And there is no such thing in the laws of rugby as hip drop tackle so why is he using that terminology. Maybe he is a league ref moonlighting as a rugby ref.

Makles sense. He clearly had zero idea about the scrums on Saturday. Shore THP was angling in every scrum and he was pinging Newington.

Newington vs Kings will be a cracking game.

Kings boys in for a treat when they have to leave behind the putting-green of a surface that is the J.S White Oval, for the Johnson Oval which is under the duress of a 5-day turn around. Field is in a something of a state right now which screams nothing but home ground advantage for the black and white.

Newington groundies gonna be working overtime on this one. Photo evidence to come if sources pull through

Faithfully,
Phillip R. LeCouter - 10th Headmaster of Newington College

Keyword 'rumour' that's fantastic if Sheck will be back this Thursday. He is needed for the Aussie 18's!

Do they call 'angling at scrum' at school level though?

Grammar were kept in the game due to the contestant scrums I believe, Shore had been so dominant in this part absolutely dominating joeys the week before.
