Wests far too good for a valiant Souths yesterday who would have faired better if they could retain the ball - very fit and skilled Wests team this year.

Any other round the grounds?

I am hearing that Brothers aren't getting the flow of players from Nudgee or Terrace like they once used to. The competition for talent exceeds South East Queensland boundaries, and players who once would have been considered a lock in at Brothers are going to other clubs, perhaps interstate or overseas, even. It's very un-Brothers-like indeed. I am not sure of the average age of their squad, but if it's stacked with 18-year-olds, not 19 or 20-year-olds, that may also be a contributing factor.

A few first year colts in the Brothers team. They will be better for it in the future but it's hurting them now.

Looks like a very tight comp this year. Anyone can beat anyone on their day. Wins will be crucial and losing bonus points really crucial.
Does anyone know if eligibility has changed with colts eligible players playing 1st Grade able to drop down for finals?

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum but I am keen to hear on your opinion of the colts 1 competition so far. I believe it has been downgraded dramatically from last year in the quality of rugby. Would love to anyone's opinion on this.

From looking at the teams each week, last years teams seemed to be dominated by 20 year olds. 2025 seems to be a much younger competition across the board. You’re going to get that in Colts every couple of years.

Interesting to hear from my nephew at Nudgee that the chat among the boys isn’t all about Brothers anymore when it comes to post-school footy. Names like Bulldogs, GPS, Uni, and Norths are popping up more, and it sounds like coaching and culture are having a real influence.

He’s got his eye on Wests—partly because of Phil Mooney and partly because a few mates are already there and loving it. Makes sense really. The game's changing, and these young players are smart. They’re looking beyond tradition and reputation, and focusing on where they’ll actually develop, enjoy their footy, and get a fair shot.

Brothers still has the name, but there's no denying their Colts program has some repair work to do—especially around coaching consistency and how player selections are perceived.

Times are changing. The old pathways aren’t guaranteed anymore. It’s good to see the boys thinking for themselves and backing what feels right for them.
