Shute Shield 2025

Easts snuck the win vs Warringah by a point - a game of backs vs forwards - Easts backs won with some very special plays.

The Warringah 2nd and Back Row all over Easts - especially against Easts #7 and #4 who looked out of their depths.

They're not staying at Milner - bulldozers move in before 2026 season starts.

They will be in the northwest of Sydney somewhere, but doubt whether the new facility at Castle Hill (Fred Caterson / Pony Club site) will be ready.

Kellyville Memorial Park has been mentioned. That'll be interesting given it already has the following in-season:
- Parra Eels NRL
- Parra Eels NRLW
- Parra Eels Jersey Flegg
- Kellyville Bushrangers Rugby League (1 senior grade + a dozen Junior sides)
- TAFE Polecats Rugby League (1 senior grade)
- Renegades Rugby Subbies (2 Senior Grades - 2026 will add Colts and women's).

Off season Eels also have teams from their Age Rep sides (SG Ball, Harold Matthews, Tarsha Gale, Lisa Fiaola) in and around.

Has it been confirmed that the bulldozers will arrive at Milner next year? That’s the been threat each of the past 2-3 seasons…

The new Millner is at Cowra. Our new ground is still a work on progress. It will probably be in Dural, so I am told.
At What point do Eastwood change there name, they cant be located in Dural/Kellyville/Cowra an be called "Eastwood"? i feel like dropping the east might seem appropriate and just going forward as "Woods"

I've said before that it changes a lot of boundaries as well.

Once they move, the Woods will be closer to Dural Juniors than ever before, who are a key feeder, which is a boundary I've always found weird.

Closer still are Hills and Norwest who are Two Blues aligned Junior clubs.

What happens to the Junior Clubs actually left in the Eastwood district?

its sort of like Gordon playing in Chatswood - but not really as its still the same club area. The way that Sydney's demographics are changing, clubs will need to be able to shift around a bit.

Building on the back of a successful lions tour and RWC. If the Shute shield was to expand and grow where does the next club come from? Blue mountains have been strong in subbies land, is there an Illawarra team? Canberra vikings again?

building the Two Blues up and rebuilding Penrith before anywhere else.
ACT have a good comp but need another team or two in it. Taking their best away would crush the comp.

Two Blues rise, maintain Hunters development and West harbour get back to being competitive should be the targets of Sydney Rugby. No need to expand for the sake of it and also risk hurting other comps.

If Rugby want a push more into Wollongong/Illawarra which has a big PI community and country spirit of getting behind local sport a bit more support given to Southern Districts.

Any Subbies club would have genuine issues with depth and quality - the First Grade sides in Subbies might end up mid-table with a Premier Grade 2nd comp if they had a good year. It'd be like Joeys playing their 3rd XV against Sydney Boys high, and still winning handsomely on average.

Taking a team from another comp weakens that comp, and creates logistical headaches for everyone in the main comp.

Stabilising what is there already is the best way forward, as well as looking seriously at the structure of the competition.

4 Grades + 3 Colts is highly questionable IMHO, particularly as it means playing at 2 different venues.

All clubs need to get a competitive Womens XVs on the park as well. Right now that isn't happening and SRU are responsible for that.

The best subbies clubs would be mid table 4th grade at absolute best. 2nd grade sides would put over 100 on some of the Subbies clubs by the end of the year.

Half the Souths 4th grade side that couldn't make semi finals won a comp with Blue Mountains. A bunch of bloke who didn't get graded at Gordon now form part of Lindfield's first grade side.

About 6-8 Eastwood lower graders who couldn't win anything are running absolute riot for Mosman.

In relation to the Shute Shield expanding don't think it really makes any difference to subbies whatsoever not that I am supporting it it just is an irrelevant consideration. The premier competition is not blocking players going to subbies.
