NSW AAGPS 2025

Just like Newington, Kings must have had some late "growers" ;)

(On a serious note, I think that the "new normal" in 2025 for recruitment, where many 1st XVs become a Harlem Globe Trotter type arrangement, is completely unseemly and against what I formerly thought to be the values of the AAGPS)

Newington are not comparable to kings:

7 players in the first xvi on the weekend played in the 2020 13a's and 2 played in the 2021 13a's

I'd also assume Joeys want to keep Hannon playing in the #10 as they look to the next couple of years, getting him all the time at #10 he can get is vital for his development into what looks to be a superstar at this point in time.
After a long day out at northbridge oval on saturday. I've recognised the depth of number 10's in the current Joeys system with Tobias Gandy taking the role of Finn Hannon's past job as the orchestrater of the current class of 2027 A's team.

he repeated year 11, he is doing pathways I have been told.

apologies for my mistaken in counting, however this week I doubt you will see either 5 or 11 in the 1st xv. Both pulled off early in the game
I believe the 11 was injured. Not sure about the 5. I may have missed it in the stream but could also be an injury to him

Well said.

Hannon controlled their whole game.

Their ruck speed and phase speed proved too good and I especially thought got the better of Shores defensive line, as it allowed the ball to be played out to their outside backs and play their attacking structures much faster.

A little bit of brilliance from Hannon also didn't help Shore.

Hoping to see Hannon (J) in the 1XV this weekend against Newington
Joeys won't change a winning 1st XV team, other than at front row where Quinn was injured

I was also at Northbridge on Saturday. The number 10 was again outstanding for Joeys, but also the whole 2nd's Joeys team were. It was certainly a more exciting performance to watch compared to their 1st's team. They started slow in the 2nd's, after 10 minutes or so they found their feet and were all class. While the Joeys 1st's team is bigger then their own 2nd's team, they were clunky and disjointed, a lot of individual plays, not enough team work. Where the 2nd's were the opposite, they played well as a team and dominated most areas of play from the ruck, lineouts, to the wide open backline. Hats off to the Shore 1's and 2's, they played well, the school behind them were all incredible on the day, positive morale and culture. Well done on hosting a terrific day out and congratulations to all players from both schools on an entertaining day of rugby.

Seeing lots of different tips for the Shore vs Scots game, certainly will be an interesting game with both teams coming out of a loss.
The second round matchup of two first round underdogs is in my opinion one of the most important games. Whoever gets up has the opportunity to get back in a strong position, and conversely, 2 losses can be hard to come back from and adds up in the end. Plenty of pressure on these boys, I have Shore on the hill.

to explain the difference between the style of the 1’s and 2’s, it comes down to coaching and a few individual egos.

Anyone have a Scots 1s and 2s lineup for this weekend vs Shore, or last weekends? (And a 3rds lineup if feeling generous). I am sure @wisemaan will repay the favour from our side with an extended list of teams.

This was the only list i had acces to

News out of Newington is that Makasini will not be playing 1st this week and will do dropped to the 2XV as last week he chose Rugby Leauge instead of playing round 1 of the GPS. Massive news for Newington here as they dont want to change there winning round 1 team.

I would take that with a pinch of salt.

This is huge news. Makasini is one of the best players in the AAGPS. Not picking him because he chose Rugby League is just petty. Newington are better with Makasini in the team, even if they won last week.

Ah Footyhead, looks like you're trying to stir up the Hill boys. Let's keep it grounded—some real news out of Stanmore would be nice!
