Western Force 2025

Sounds more like hey any Rugby Players with the Force interested get your Manager to contact us and you can up your salary and stay in Perth if we like you. Say someone like Will Harris who isn’t in Wallaby contention but has a juniors history in League. Here’s a 2 year top 30 deal worth 400k per year.

They couldn’t give less of a fuck about the Force but the Force should play nice and mooch of the Rugby League just bringing any attention to the State.
V'landys is going to screw you somehow. He's shown everyone who he is as a businessman his entire career.

The Force have to figure out how precisely he's screwing them and decide if the dinner he's buying them first is good enough.

I don't think he's out to screw Rugby. I really don't think it's even on their radar and they answer questions on it when brought up.

Force can benefit from the pressure and resources the NRL can bring to the Stadium and things like training centres that have been brought up as being shared resources. How much of said resource is yet to be determined... Go ask West Harbour how much of Concord they get... It's different as they arent fully pro like the Force but they are told hey it's better than what you had so take it and go away.

The NRLs goal will be to have a side that is self sufficient like the Storm and yes success has been their key but they have an average crowd better than that of any Rugby side in Aus.

Personally, I think they're up against it. Storm are successful because they've had the same coach for 20 years and he is very, very good. They don't pay overs to players, because they're always contending. And they have been exceptional at talent identification. Bears have to replicate this, with added travel pressure. Good luck.

Replicate the Storm is impossible. Has there been a more consistently successful Club side in the world in any sport? Crusaders could be mentioned but we also have our thoughts on Super Rugby. Those two sides have also worked together quite a bit.

The Perth Bears will be fine. The NRL is so massive now the days of financial hardship for Clubs is done. I think you'll see a couple marquee guys then a few get paid overs which is normal for a new side. I think they will go heavy on looking to Super League and the way the Raiders have done it very well. They won't produce the amount of locals that the Cowboys or Warriors do but they have to deal with travel and families re locating.

Financially they might be alright but they're now propping up a team in PNG and Perth. It gives them extra games which is good for their TV deal I guess. But success will be very difficult. I'd say it'll very similar to the Titans. The travel will be an issue. It is for Freo and Eagles and they sometimes get to travel to Adelaide which assists as well as an extra game as a derby. There's work arounds of course. Anyways, I personally think they'll be as successful as the Force, so they probably will need each other.

Super Rugby Pacific: Western Force coach Simon Cron voices frustrations with team’s travel schedule

Western Force coach Simon Cron has declared the zig-zag nature of their travel schedule, which will see them top more than 49,000km in distance travailed this season, must be rectified to aid player welfare.

With their Super Rugby Pacific season coming to a close, the Force need a pair of bonus point wins in their last two games to clinch an unlikely finals berth, starting against Fijian Drua at Churchill Park on Saturday.

Their task has been made harder by their second four-hour time-zone change in as many weeks, before another four-hour shift again ahead of next Saturday’s home finale against the Waratahs.

Big one is we didn’t get any home games back to back where as the Drua who we face tomorrow this will be their third in a row at home

Love to compare their travel to say the crusaders. Feels like they’ve done eff all this year!
Bit of noise about the force travelling getting around. 49000km this year. The fact we had to play perthz NZ, Perth, Fiji, Perth is just poor planning. And a last round bye.
When SA was in the comp the worst year we had was around 65k. How we have almost reached 50k in a comp that doesn't involve SA is astounding. We have gone.
H, Canberra, H, Sydney, NZ, H, Brisbane, H, H, NZ, NZ, H, Fiji, H

Compare against tahs.
H, H, H, Brisbane, H, NZ, NZ, H, Fiji, ,Canberra, H, H, Perth, NZ. This is a much better planned year with 3 home games in a row and well planned away tours which make sense.

In what world do they not give the force a few home games in a row but have so many of the other teams with 3 home games in a row.

I understand the force will always travel more but the schedule is piss poor. They should do better.

Force need solid depth so they can still win and leave players at home more often. It's the only way forward.

Couldn’t agree more with you Shiggins. Basically stitched up. The Tahs, with all their easy draw and minimal travel are no better on the ladder. Be lucky to win anymore matches this year .. The Force to win their final two with bonus points!!

Fingers crossed. Will be tough missing 5 or 6 key players. I hate whinging about the travel. I get it. We are in Perth. But it could be thought of about a bit more when scheduling.

Doing the math the tahs travelled approx 21500km vs 49000km

Agreed, mate. They really should consider the Force (and lesser extent Fiji)( and try to string games together in one sport, either three at home in a row, three over east, etc., or a few at home. There might not be a good way to do it, but I think they should probably never be going H A H in a season if it can be avoided. At minimum, two games in the same region would help massively.

Exactly Tomikin. Not sure who organises the draw but something needs to address this issue for next season. Making it as fair as you can should be a priority.
