Having taken a few strolls past and through the sacred turf of Northbridge Playing Fields over the last week, its been great to see the men of the blue and white taking their first pre season training sessions of the off season. A few chats with the soldiers of the bridge told me all I have to know - something big is brewing for the blue and white. I think the men of Shore's late start to preseason will do nothing to hold them back from glory this season.

In the wise words of The Chairman, three words can describe this season: Shore Boys Win.

I've heard this but was told that this was an elaborate ruse conducted by coaches to fool other schools into thinking they needed more than a couple weeks to repeat the glory of last year's prem.

I will start, I nominate Ghattas (Hooker) and Gough (fullback) for Joeys.

I too am a somewhat elder statesman but I think the season promises great things for several prospects in the Sydney Church of England Grammar School (SHORE) regime.

Dominic Jarret (3) has seen a meteoric rise in recent years. I've personally never seen a scrum machine move as fast and as formidably as last tuesday, after training when young Dom decided to give it a push. A quick interview told me all I needed to know: This titan has put in the hours in the gym and on the field over summer to achieve greatness.

As for my back pick, I'd have to say that Digby Hockey (11) would be a daunting challenge to chase down on the field. He's a ferocious bloke both on the footy pitch and on the athletics track, ripping through lines of defense so fast I wouldn't blame the opposition for giving up in chase - even in my glory days I wouldn't have stood a chance.

I've Heard that there are a lot of boys from the u16 age group from both barker and Joeys playing in the first and seconds teams. Anyone know if the 16s age group for either sides will look as strong as they were last year

School Following here is Newington.

Forward that you nee to look out for would have to be Dylan Simmions with a tremendous year last yea gaining selection in GPS 2, NSW schools 2 and now Waratahs u18 academy. He will be a tremendous player for Newington this year.

Backs would nee to be Bailey ROBERTS-LINTMEIJER. A start for Newington 2XV last year with also playing in the Aussie 7s winning team. Also then winning the u18 open 100m last year running a sub 11 seconds. Has be a real dark horse for GPS 1st.

For Newington where does Scheck fall on the talent list? He was a problem on the park for NSW U18s in the recent games. That's a big human who found space.

I agree there, a big body who carries well and is very strong at set piece. Also a name to watch is Kden Carter, a fullback from the mid north coast who has real X factor

I think another country boy from the central west Bede Clout will be the standout forward for the boys from the bridge and the fullback Callaghan is absolutely electric and will cement his reputation as one of the best in the competition!

Couldn't agree more regarding Clout, definitely one of the scariest blokes in sydney at the moment. A throbbing pick from yourself, Mr Observer.
I agree with your notes on Callaghan, but I will say that Joker asked for biggest potential - Callaghan has already proven himself to be one of the most entertaining and powerful players to watch in both the AAGPS as well as outside contracts.

Got out to Joeys this morning for a funeral of a friend.
At the service there were several current students who helped bolster the singing.
After the service a couple of lads (who wish to not have a shout out) said trials were throwing up names not thought of.
It seems the off-season hard work and plenty of mum's meatloaf have created a couple of real bolters.

NON GPS news is that I had a quick catch up with Wallaby Tom Wright as well (I coached him in the NSWCIS team)
He said it is not out of the realm of possibility that Tristan Reilly may get a Wallaby call up. Joe boys at 15,14 and 11.
He is most impressed with him and Jorgo who he reckons is getting better all the time.

Joeys backs were impressive today despit losing to Barker 41/29. Coaches rang in the changes in the second half with lots of lads getting a run.

Anyone have any teamlists for barker or joeys?.

My colleague at the game said the Barker forwards were bigger and drilled. That said the Joeys forwards are good on their own feeds, and will trouble a lot of teams. On a dry track their backs will be hot.
