Brumbies v Fijian Drua Rd 5 Friday 14th Mar @ GIO Stadium 7.35pm AEDT

Good BP win on the back of that tough road trip. Cant help but feel they are a bit too attached to structure at times in attack, Lonergan missed some chances to attack space around the ruck from quick ball. Some excellent attack at other times too.

Hooper outstanding again with Reimer massive off the bench. Wright came good after early errors and Lenny was back to his usual self. Defence across the board is also improving though I expect the missed tackle count would be high again (as is generally the case vs the Drua)

That was a good win by the Brumbies.

Outside the forwards who handled the breakdown well and Hooper/Reimer who you mentioned, I thought Cale had some nice involvements and agree that was a pretty solid performance from Wright. Disagree with Yoda's comment about him not passing enough. I actually think Wright is being a lot better with his choices of when to take the contact, with a lot less unecessary turnovers. I also feel Muirhead is underated. Chases hard and is generally strong in defense.

Some of the passing in tight was pretty special in this game and generally looks to have improved. The defensive detail also looks to be getting better with both tackling technique and the system in general.

I did concur with the commentators that they (the Brumbies) were lucky to escape a warning when they had infringed a couple of times in a row. I also thought that last try looked a tad close to a double movement. Looked short before he was driven over and probably should have been played.

Thought Sapsford plugged the hole at 12 really well after the early injury to David, I know he cops some criticism in defence but thought he stepped up well tonight. Back-row were fantastic with Tom Wright, Len Ikitau, and Andy Muirhead the stand out backs for me. Reserve front-row (Schoupp, Lonergan, Feao) added some nice punch as well. Rory Scott and Luke Reimer made the big plays in defence on the line forcing a couple of turnovers between them which were huge moments in the context of the game.

That seemed to be a pretty good crowd. Any idea of the size?
A shade under 8200. I’ve noticed a lot more people wearing their merch at the game as well. Fun game but fuck it looked like the Drua got away with a lot. Massive hits by both teams

That's pretty harsh; he has set up a couple of tries already with some excellent ball playing, as Bernie noted at halftime. If he forced passes like he used to in some of those situations, people would be piling on that he is rocks and diamonds and has poor decision-making. Stats currently have him as 15 runs and 10 passes hardly criminal.
He’s improved out of sight from his ‘rocks’ days… definitely best 15 we have. Just like him to look for a link pass more but as you say, not a forced one. I’m a fan don’t worry, plus he has plenty of speed.

last year's Brumbies Tahs match at GIO attracted 8000 so should see double that this year as its usually the Brumbies biggest drawing home game.

Should be up on this game anyway. Crowd felt similar against the Force as well.

Brumbies trying really hard to attract people to matches with different initiatives, kind of sad for such a strong competent side who produces very good results year after year doesn't get better support from locals. But also factors like Canberra's population feeds into that when compared to Brissy or Sydney. They averaged about 8050 last year, and got close to 9000 a few times last year. Would be awesome to see them get over 10,000 at some stage this year, best chances are Waratahs, Reds, or Hurricanes.
