Or maybe not...

I'm hearing he'll be released from Harbour but not Tribe unless Kubota come up with what would effectively be a transfer fee to at least the value of SS's Super Rugby contract.
No particular fan of NZ franchises but fuck Kubota right off. Why would they let him break his contract for free?

For all the people that yammer on about the talent drain and transfer fees, this is exactly how things should play out: player is contracted and team looking to pick them up pay a release to access them.

Pay for him. It's likely they do release him eventually because it's not good to have a player kick rocks inside your walls. Caveat to that is a message from Razor that no I want you for the ABs which is what I assume happened with Jake Gordon and the Tahs.

Love to see Tampering fines like many US sports. Challenging at times to prove as you go via proxies to the player but nonetheless you shouldn't be able to stuff with organisations so freely.

Its fine in my view. They made a decision and signed a contract. What sort of message does it send if you release the first player who throws a little tanty and demands a release contrary to the clubs planning? Nah boi.

Clubs seem to say no, say no again and then eventually release them and you've gone through a whole lot of bs for nothing.

I get the whole put your foot down thing but when you know they will eventually give in why not just fuck them off from the start...

Need to remove this from the whole scenario and have prices on release. Club is OK with having you walk if they are fairly remunerated and it may stop it from happening at times as other Clubs won't approach knowing there will be a cost.

I think that's what they are saying?

I wonder if there was any fee attached to Sefo Kautai's release from his Brumbies contract?

This is how it should work if a team wants a contracted player, paying a release fee is the right way to handle it.
It keeps things fair for everyone involved........

I think the clubs fear that the player wont try their hardest if they are not released.

Players begin to play safe and not to their best abilities. What can be worse is the attitude they may bring to training and does it slowly erode the group when you know you have a guy that wants to be elsewhere.

Can't really pigeon hole them like other jobs.

Eh just make an example of them then. Better that than to continually have your contracted players raided.

Hurricanes posted on insta that Ruben Love has had ankle surgery & expected rehab time is 3 - 4 months.
Not flash for the overall comp losing "excitement machines" like Ruben Love and Shawn Stevenson.

Oh well, Razors boys Chay Fihaki and "Dave", as incumbent All Blacks, should easily pick up the mantle.

Braydon Ennor too!

ffs.

Yeah, losing players like Ruben Love and Shawn Stevenson is a blow for the comp.
But Razor’s guys like Fihaki, ‘Dave,’ and Ennor should step up let’s hope they bring the spark
