Wallabies v Fiji, Sunday, 6 July, 1:30pm @ McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

A good point. The part I am missing is that forward passes are up to the officials, and if they FU, then writing a mass of posts here,, are not going to clarify one thing in terms of us beating the Lions. It strikes me that many here have the Cheika syndrome 'We was robbed' 'Shit officials' etc...

Can somebody explain to me WTF we are doing analysing forward on not passes, when the Lions are upon us?

We cannot beat the Lions with a D that stands back. It almost cost us the game v Fiji, as they are a dangerous team if allowed to run. The Tahs held the Lions mainly due to their rush D. If we persist with this defensive pattern, we are going down 3-0.

I'm betting on a similar result to last season. Hope he can do better, but don't expect it.

I agree with you. it is the tight 5 that will be giving Schmidt the most concern, re who plays, who finishes and who doesn't.

Has Tom Wright gone into a shell? He seems to have gone from the guy who would rather run than pass, now he seems to have gone to rather pass than run. He needs to find some of his old self without going full out, 'give it to me and I'll score'.

Next time I'll try to make is simpler.

they aren’t paid to play the game we talk about. And neither are we. I have ,been less than impressed with Wright and Gleeson in the past, but happy to find they have improved, as I believe Swain has. This kind of atttack has kept him and Swinton out of the wallaby pack...

Where did you get that from? I can find nothing that points to any passes.

Philip is like several of our locks, highly skilled, decent ticker but not big enough to make an impact at international level.

DC, He is a huge unit with a good skillset, BUT he doesn't have the aggression necessary, or the natural ability to play lock that Eales (ability) or Vickerman's aggression. Unless things change, he will be on the bench as a good finisher against the Lions.

My take is it is mainly down to the training at the Crusaders, he's admitted it's a lot harder than Qld.

I think that is a very conservative approach to an area that needs aggression at some level. If Swain was red carded over a serious incident again this season then it might be an issue. The red card he got v Eng was was due mostly to that pommie drop kick, who has not been seen in England...
