speaking to a Kiwi parent, apparently political selections (over performance) have been widely spoken of.... and the battle between NZRU and the powerful Schools hierarchy is still opposite to what happened in Aus.... (ie none of the younger leaving schoolkids were eligible for the 'top' team...

you'd have a few declining the opportunity I reckon - little prep due to exams, rolling into schoolies (which isn't just Surfers Paradise these days), etc

sorry I'm talking about the 2023 U18 games held in the ACT, where Goddard played THP and won a few scrum penalties...

but we lost those games home (both at Viking Park) : wilted in the second halves much like (but not to the same level) NZSS did earlier this week

Union needs to continue doing a much better job of marketing - representing Australia U18s vs NZ in the year they're at school should really be enough to keep them engaged when you're looking at Eels v Dragons SG Ball at shitty WIN Stadium!!! These kids are all about profile and image, pump...

Unfortunately the 6 extra reserves (and hence energy) that the U18s had over the Schools saw the score really blow out towards the end - if there was parity of numbers it may have been a fair bit closer.... shame 6 of the u18s will not play next week as they'll be in no mans land between u18s...

IMHO it was the opposite way around; ref incorrectly awarded Daly penalties when in fact Uys was dominant…

such a similar story to other schools unfortunately: and the real stakeholders (fee paying parents) who love rugby are seemingly not of the scale or volition to attempts in reversing the trends.... it's the non-rugby parents who want more sports (or sport to be non compulsory), and total parity...
