    RWC 2027 Australia

My memory of the view from the 600s + thousands more wealthy people in town than normal accommodation prices... think I'll be watching the semi-finals and finals from home over deciding November 2027 is the moment for my fourth or fifth in a lifetime trip to Sydney.

    Lions Tour 2025

Gone off it a bit since looking up South Africa climate and realising I'd be wearing a jacket every day. And getting drunk with rugby fans might have a Been Here Done This feeling by the 3rd weekend. Going to the first 1 or 2 games and heading north up the continent might work.

Wallabies v Lions Game 2 MCG 26 July

Socceroos 2005+ becoming a team who always qualify for the world cup likely diminished the special international big deal feel only rugby union had (of the football codes) in Australia before that.

Wallabies v Lions Game 2 MCG 26 July

Heaps of people won't support two rugby union teams when the Wallabies play 15 games a year. It'd be a similar story in the NRL if Origin went on that long and AFL if there were something above clubs.

Wallabies v Lions Game 2 MCG 26 July

Lions supporters will be blind drunk for their last weekend in Australia. Sydney Wallabies supporters who didn't buy a ticket before the end of game 2 will watch on TV or not at all.

Oh now there's a Wallabies jersey

Wallabies v Lions Game 2 MCG 26 July

Stepped on my train from suburb to Jolimont and don't see anyone wearing rugby stuff. Though many casual "going because it's a big event" Melbourne people won't have bought merchandise.

Cold, grey and windy maybe not what British & Lions fans pictured when they planned their big Australian trip

A journey that has you going to the airport will feel longer than "45 minutes from your front door"

    Melbourne Rebels 2025 and beyond...

We'll see. From what I can tell the reason Melbourne Storm is full of men who grew up in QLD & NSW is because Storm and the ALRC don't spend any money developing rugby league as a participant sport in VIC.

As a visitor staying in the CBD it stood out how many convenience stores were shut.

    Lions Tour 2025

I went up to Brisbane. Definitely an event feel with so many people from not Brisbane (me) going out of their way to be there visiting a stadium they've never been to (also me). By the time I flew home to Melbourne last night even though I'm Australian I was thinking "You've never been to Africa...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

UK & Ireland TV could have something to do with it. 11am probably sounds less going-out-of-your-way-to-watch-it than anything earlier.

Wallabies v Lions, 19 July Suncorp

Seen a few kids wearing it which is a change from the 40s-60s men. Expect Lions to win this and the series.
