Australian Schools & Junior Rugby Championships - Sunshine Coast, 2025

They 100% should play, the pathways managers justify it by saying it is about load management. The U20’s game versus South Africa recently tells you how load management is going. The African players are mostly playing full time in europe vs our approach, a warm up tournament and a few managed...

I agree 100% with recent posts, Waratahs pathways management is conflicted, corrupt and clueless. The PONI is a horse named Mediocrity, a broken down nag rested for the Hay picnic races.

Fakaunu will be missed. many oddities about the game. also interesting that the SA coach Kevin Foote was head coach at the Rebels. Australian development dollars at work yet again.

yes they did win some games but the players in this version of the SA team were playing pro rugby in the URC against men at the time. Pathways, Pathways, we stick ours in cotton wool and call them PONIs, they send theirs out to prove themselves against men. These are the results.

let’s be honest, GPS selections are a horse trading activity. most junior selections are. Look at the Sydney U18 selections this year, very wrong and the results they achieved demonstrate that.

that kind of proves the point, incumbency / form is the Australian way.

NSW AAGPS 2025 (banter and commentary)

seriously, poor excuse. the GPS could have picked a team to win but picking on rep rather than form is a sad Australian rugby tradition.

fixing it is easy. kill the incumbency / PONI pathways, compete for you spot every week.

could not have put it better, too many of the GPS players picked on what they did once upon a time. PONI syndrome =player development deficit. if you don’t need to compete then you won’t .

there is still a PONI / Waratahs gravy train. it is a categorical blight on the development of this great game

NSW Schools championships (GPS, CAS, ISA etc) updates

hear hear, pathways incumbency is the tumour that kills NSW and Australian rugby

this is the point where one might question incumbency… the blight of Australian pathways

the SJRU U18 team were poor, why so many players from the weakest colts programs? there was a serious skills deficit on display.
