Not strange. When requests are made to clubs or coaches for these details, most responses will only be cursory or inaccurate for a number of reasons. Firstly, the information is not readily available, or complete, or still in the process of finalising. Secondly, coaches may not want some...

"How many pf these academy player would be Shute Shield regulars?" How many of them wouldn't be? Do you know? We all get what WF are aiming to do & why. I don't know enough about the WF locals to comment, but some of the Sydney/ACT players may well be good enough to play first grade on a...

If you are an allocated player to a local club, I’d imagine that you would want a guarantee that you are going to be signed by Western Force for 2026 otherwise you might want to play elsewhere.

    Shute Shield 2025

The Shute Shield is usually boringly predictable, so I hope your predictions are wrong, However, 2 of last years heavyweights, Easts & Warringah, finished 10th & 11th the year before, a breath of fresh air, so one can only hope for something similar this season. A point that you do contend which...

If players return from an overseas stint, after effectively abandoning their Sydney club is not obliged to select them over the players who have remained loyal & worked & played for their local club. Its up to the club to set an example .Loyalty is a 2 way thing.

All the SS clubs have successful professionals on their committees these days, & each club must also have a manager. as a requirement to participate in the competition, & also a number of others who lend off field support. The reality is that the "top" clubs continually have the best players &...

If you’re saying the teams at the top of the ladder put in more effort than those at the bottom, then I disagree with you. I’ve been with clubs at both ends of the ladder & that’s been my experience. It’s not about effort.

Ho Hum. You mean the same predictable competition & teams that dominate every year? Let’s hope you’re off the mark, for the sake of Sydney(& Australian) rugby, & so we can have a genuine competition with real interest shared amongst all the clubs supporters who are spread over all of Sydney..

That's right. I wasn't recommending that it should still be the practice. Sydney Uni rugby club in the Shute Shield ,is a rugby club like any other club. They do have certain advantages however. My post was more an observation & opinion on the practice of relying heavily on overseas players...
