    Women's Rugby

The improvement in the Wallaroos over the last couple of years as they have got more professional is incredible. The skills and athleticism compared to where it was not that long ago is chalk and cheese.

Rugby Championship 2025 : South Africa v Australia Round 2

That didn't look good but I don't think this is where Wright got injured. He got straight up and kept playing. I think the injury was a non-contact injury when he ran the ball across field after catching a kick and then changed directions after Sua'ali'i dropped his pass. As soon as the...

    Waratahs 2026

I don't think it was a priority at all. I think it eventuated because Potter wanted to move back to the East Coast and Lancaster was the unlucky one who was off contract who would make way for that to happen. From a salary cap perspective I wouldn't think it makes much difference to the Waratahs.

Two forum regulars trying to have a slightly nuanced conversation about a couple of players?!?

    Waratahs 2026

I agree that I over-egged the pudding with my phrasing. The point I was trying to convey is that he was a player that after getting an opportunity for the Wallabies you would have struggled to find a Wallabies fan thinking that we were unlikely to see him selected again. I definitely don't...

    Waratahs 2026

My reference to where Potter finished the season last year is that he had been given an opportunity in the Wallabies 23 and played well and looked like he belonged at that level. If you were looking at that group you would have easily included Potter as a likely player for the Wallabies in 2025...

Rugby Championship 2025: South Africa v Australia

The only players that debuted under Eddie Jones who played against South Africa were Tom Hooper and Zane Nonggorr. There were only 13 out of the 23 from Ellis Park that made that Rugby World Cup squad. Any suggestion that Eddie Jones laid the groundwork for where the team is now seems wildly...

Rugby Championship 2025 : South Africa v Australia Round 2

I'm trying to work out the timeline. The TRC and ESPNscrum sites both show White leaving the field for Ikitau in the 68th minute. That isn't correct. Ikitau is on the field at the same as White from 65th minute after the Harry Wilson try. I think what happened is that Ikitau returns to the...

Rugby Championship 2025 : South Africa v Australia Round 2

Edmed couldn't take the field because we had already used 8 substitutions. Ikitau returning to the field counted as an additional substitution because it was outside of the 15 minutes allowed for a blood injury.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

My marketing strategy is never going to revolve around focusing on the people who will choose to watch something else if they can find a better option than watching the Wallabies.

    Waratahs 2026

That's fine, but I don't think Lancaster's ceiling is overly relevant. He's nowhere near that point and for the next two years (which is the contracting period we're talking about) Potter is a significantly better player. We've currently got a guy who has the physical attributes but lost his...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Sure, but at the same time, it's not a hill I'm going to die on if I'm Rugby Australia in terms of negotiating with NZRU. The timing of a single away test match is a low order priority in relation to where I'm going to use up my credit with NZRU. We're not going to get paid a single cent more...

    Waratahs 2026

I think the Potter vs Lancaster discussion is suffering from some recency bias. Potter was very clearly a starting Wallaby winger at the end of last year and cemented that through his level of play in Super Rugby this year. It's a bad test and then an injury against the Lions that is clouding...
