Queensland Reds 2026

Yeah would rather he went south. Is Kiss still here for 2026 or has he made the move by then?

This pushes HMP out of the fit match day 23. You'd assume Tom gets first dibs at 10, Paisami at 12 with Flook at 13. Carter is a good bench option for 22. can replace both Tom and Paisami who are injury prone. Jock at 15. with Volavola/HMP at 23.

With another pre-season under his belt, I don’t think you leave Pakeho out of the matchday 23

Whilst I rate him I must admit my Flook stocks have gone down; he is a smart player, runs good lines, good temperament and is skilled. But not big enough for 13 and not fast enough for wing.

If he learnt to kick he might make a good fullback.

I completely forgot about Pakeho. Kid is a weapon. Get him in.

One of the great things about pre-season is working out how to get all your squad members in the 23 and working out who will miss out.

Then the season hits and we end up in a position asking who is floating around clubland that might be able to step up. :)

Seriously though - despite my misgivings depth is tremendously important and good to have another quality option available. And it is good to have Gordon back in rugby in a position where we need sone depth.

I think Flook becomes a Mr Fixit for the Reds and may even see decent time at 15 over the course of the season. Jack of all master of none type guy and it seems the Reds will have specialists across the backline.

He's a smart footballer and would make up for any lack of speed with game awareness and positional play.

The other guy to think about come the end of next year is Petaia and his no doubt desire to go back to the Reds. I'm sure the Brums and Force will enquire about his services

I think Flook is a good option at centre just gotta use him the right way and he needs a bigger body next to him to help out. I don't mind the shout at fullback. He seems like a Kellaway kind of player in that he's smart and won't let you down.

The rise of Pakeho and addition of Gordon seemingly leave Henry a fair way down the pecking order - could be tricky to prove his worth if not for a bit of an injury crisis (although the Reds have seemed good for that for at least a few weeks in recent seasons).

I must say I was (pleasantly) surprised to see him get another year. The best ability really is availability.

Goldbrough and Ruebens coming through should put pressure on selections. I don't reckon the Reds will be as patient with Henry next year. Hope he gets a good run at it.

You are all describing Flook as a modern day Conrad Smith and he only played 94 test for the All Blacks.
I think it was easier for Smith though working in backlines - particularly the ABs - where he had quality halves and was surrounded by strike weapons. I do think Flook makes those around him better though.
