I'm trying to work out the timeline. The TRC and ESPNscrum sites both show White leaving the field for Ikitau in the 68th minute. That isn't correct. Ikitau is on the field at the same as White from 65th minute after the Harry Wilson try.

I think what happened is that Ikitau returns to the field right around the 15 minute time limit and McDermott leaves the field. McDermott then comes back onto the field after the Jorgensen try to replace White.

On that basis the blood injury returning was effective so Edmed could have still be substituted on at the end of the match.

Edmed couldn't take the field because we had already used 8 substitutions.

Ikitau returning to the field counted as an additional substitution because it was outside of the 15 minutes allowed for a blood injury.

Well it this is true I don't know how to keep up with the rules anymore.

I'm also confused now, it shows the Boks had 10 substitutions too, did Van Staden go off for a head assessment or something and therefore that doesnt count as a sub?

Fairly sure anything that is WADA approved can be given. Not an expert here though

I know of times that this has happened in GPS high school rugby for big games if players are injured, so I'd be very surprised if it doesn't happen at the elite level too.

Maybe I'm overly cautious but I would rather a 5-3 bench. We have had Potter and Pietch both go down in the first half recently and that throws a spanner in the works to bring a fresh 9 & 10 on at the back end of the game. If Tate has to come on as a winger again Joe will want to keep the other bench back in reserve in case of another injury.

Looked like he did a good job of it so maybe up to 6 weeks.

If I had a biscuit for every time someone doubts Mostert I would be an even fatter bastard. He is still one of the fittest guys in the squad. His stats speak for themselves. And absolute workhorse and on a wet track this weekend I will take him 100 times before anyone else except PsDT

Du Preez is number 5 in the no 8 pecking order because of injuries and suspensions. One of the unluckiest guys to be at his peak when the boks were spoilt for back row choices. Very unlucky.

Let's see how these geriatrics go on Saturday and loop back. If they get outrun and outlasted I will eat crow.

I'm expecting Boks to come and rip in this match.... all the news articles and rugby fans around the world celebrating a Boks loss will cause some significant backlash.

I think Pollard will control the game much better then Libbok, who struggled, not sold that the other replacements like De Allende and the backrow are an improvement though.

Yes, something like the Sydney response to the Adelaide test seems likely. It'll be a real test of where the wallabies are at to see if they can show up two weeks in a row when there is a bit more expectation around them, something that hasn't happened reliably in a long time.

I still believe it will be very very close but we have better closers this time and a way more physical bench who can come on and slow the game right down. So it is a completely different challenge. There will be no hail mary passes and sweeping backlines move. And a lot more kicking. Plenty more.
