Wallabies v Lions Game 2 MCG 26 July

It was a big ask for someone like Robertson to have to play the full second half in a game like that, why did they take AA off so early

I could understand a bit more why Schmidt wanted to start Slipper after tonight

Schmidt should blame himself
Picking Lenny and Sua'ali'i in their wrong positions
Not picking tupou and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) on the bench
Taking Valetini and Skelton off too early
We lost all impact

tbh though Valatine is world class and would fit in any backrow in the world

7. Savea
8. Valetini

Schmidt certainly has a lot to answer for in selections, but we've tried Paisami so many times without success at 12

Another great game ruined by a refereeing decision....

I don't know what else to say
I don’t know if that ruined the game. Was probably more than a 50/50 call out way. Surely you call it tho and send it to a decider for the sake of the game! Ha
But we gave up an 18 point lead with one soft try before half and I’d say that last try was soft on us too. Giving up penalties at important times.
I thought the scrum penalty to lions w genie was a poor call especially the second one.
End of the day we folded up in the second half
I think Skelton had another ten in him as he was still making an impact w ball in hand and bending line.
Valentino off was noticeable tho gleeson did alright but once we lost two, we barely broke line.
I do think k we should’ve had LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) on bench. We subbed off our power
JAS missed alot of tackles. It was dissapointing.

There were, but the problem is we've heard this sentiment many times before
For sure, lets just not fire the coach in the meantime though,

Im still a believer that Rennie had us on the right path and firing him was possibly the worth thin RA has ever done

I believe in Schmidt, but our next focus is 2027 (even though he is done at the end of this year)

You can’t argue that rugby in Australia is in a much better place than it was in October 2023. The officiating sucks but that’s not an Aussie specific problem, it definitely makes it hard to win fans here though.
Well, the Wallabies lost the 2013 Series and 2 years later were runner-up against the back to back champions, the 2015 All Blacks, for most of experts, the best team in Professional Era

All lions fans can say is tizzano should be a soccer player. Would love to see those idiots in the same situation. They probably would be stretchered off

What a night. Awesome to see Melbourne be a rugby city. Absurd there’s no team here professionally but that’s another story.

cant help but feel if we had a player like meafou come on to replace Skelton it would be a different story. But again, a different story, for another time

My opinion.
Tizzano is an absolute flog who should be nowhere near the test team.
You see cleanouts like that 10x per game.
He hammed that, deluxe.

We weren’t good enough, and we got found out

Turinui is an embarrassment, whiny bitch. Bring back Kearns if that is what we’ve descended to
Tizzano was excellent and made an important turn over earlier to stop a try. He got smashed in the neck/head by a Morgan flying in off feet to a ruck. Lucky he wasn't injured

Flog is a bad take.
He got hit in the head at speed by a big unit. Maybe he milked it, maybe he didn’t. But he legit got hit in the head - it’s not a soccer phantom or light touch dive.

A bad take on tizzano.
but we did get found out second half. That second try before halftime was a bit of a killer.
Lynagh missed kicks - so did Finn. Wouldn’t put this on lynagh as has been written elsewhere
I think we needed more grunt second half which was maybe LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and Hooper vs who came on.
suallii gets that pass off in the second and we score. Few little moments

Ya I thought almost all the subs were 10 minutes too early.
You’ve just had a 10+ minute break, unless injuries smash it out for another 10-15 and then off

It's a concern that the next head coach (Les Kiss) coached the worst 2 teams against Lions in the tour (Reds and AUNZ XV). Meanwhile Toutai Kefu (First Nations), Stephen Larkham (Brumbies) and Dan McKellar (Waratahs) did a better work with similar squads

Tbh If the wallabies play like that against NZ or SA they could jag a win
Add LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and maybe tupou on the bench plus play Valetini and Skelton longer with ikatau and Sua'ali'i switched and you never know
But yes we will need to play well like we did tonight to stand a chance
SA or NZ put that game to bed easily. We suck. Imagine being 23-5 up and still losing a series decider. Blokes are gutless.

The finger pointing and negativity on the thread is nauseating. We got a good game. The decision is debatable thats life. 2 years ago the prevailing view was that this series wouldnt be competitive. This kind of performance belies where we are at in the world rankings.

Spare me the sky is falling shit
Bang on, but be careful posting such a sensible and balanced post.
Will add , as an ABs man, I a little worried about how well this Wallaby team is going. They seem to be improving a lot.

Plenty of angry chat last night but all seems fairly fair reading it back.

Wallabies did what they do all the time.

30 mins of good Rugby a game. Last night was the first and in the first game it was the last.
Honestly who the fuck loses from 23-5 up in the biggest game and series of their lives. Absolutely gutless fucking wonders the lot of them.
