Oh come on, guys, no need for all this gloom. CAS wins every so often, and this was one of those years. Plus, GPS still got 9 players in NSW 1sts to 6 from CAS - imagine how many would have been there if GPS won!

that kind of proves the point, incumbency / form is the Australian way.

Perrett and Craig played together at Eastwood and Perrett has more pro experience. Very good player who should have seen a lot more pro rugby but Aus was stacked with backrowers.

Never been sold on Wallace myself. He’s been around how long for one good year? Few talented players had the influence IMO anyway.

I think there’s a lot of carry on tbf and nobody likes to lose but CAS got it done and good on them. They’ll win more in the future as well as they have in the past and we’ll do the same convo. I hate losing but also enjoy the fact the selectors rewarded form over just being a name even though some still got there for that.

Shore's problem has always been systematic lack of quality players.

From 2012-21 that is what haunted them.

As soon as they got the stars they needed and lined up two good age groups in a year, they won in 2024. Coaches jobs are always hard without the players there.

For the GPS, selecting a team then getting them to play a completely different shape to what they have been drilled all year with different people makes it difficult always. You could see they were not on the same page and lacked a bit of heart that the CAS didn't.

I also think there were definitely some selection errors that need to be looked at and how the teams get picked needs a review as well. Shore and Riverview are the two best well-coached teams in the AAGPS. Surprised the Iggies coach didn't get a run at all. Maybe he did not volunteer.

But I think its wrong to point it at coaching when some of the on-field performances probably let them down and not the system/structure.

And bloody good blokes as well. For such a talented team they were very humble (generally!!!) and great to have a beer with. Injury crulled a few more potential Wallabies out of this cohort.

What’s happening in ACT? Does this mean that those players are not eligible for Australian Schoolboys selection? Also - wondering what to make of some less celebrated but still Aust players from last year eg Palmisani, Kotarac, that didn’t appear to be selected in the NSW teams either? Gough? Am thoroughly confused. Would be grateful if anyone can shed light on this

All this about GPS being sore losers and CAS had the better side, only the latter is true. It is correct that CAS (and perhaps ISA) fielded a better team, that beat GPS fair & square. But the most common reason found is the mishap of selection, but people are saying this is just arrogant GPS BS. It’s not.

YES, CAS had the better team, but IMO this is largely because of whatever happened in picking this GPS team. I’m sure the game would have been tight, and definitely not GPS domination but I feel that a win for the GPS could have been found in what was lost in mis-selection. Some errors in selection are clear as day. This is not GPS arrogance or sore-losering, this is an understandable justification for underperformance.

I think we of the GPS fraternity need to put on our big boy pants and acknowledge our opposition. The team picked was excellent but didn’t perform. Oh well. As a Kings supporter I love our front row but Views is fantastic as well. Hard not to pick all of the big boys in the forward pack despite similar play style and work rate concerns of some ( which was called out well beforehand).
Seconds didn’t set the world on fire either.
I imagine we’ll see a refresh of coaches and subsequent attitude next year.
Great for rugby that CAS and ISA are shaking the tree.
For my two cents the only kid dudded on selection was the double barrelled blonde winger from New but then, omg, so many New backs ( the world is falling).

Koterac is an interesting example; is he in PONI or has his league (named in NSW CIS for Aus Schools League champs) commitments made him ineligible?

He is not in PONI and neither is Palmisani. You go straight to PONI IF you played& performed well in TAHS U18 earlier this year.
