Reds v Waratahs - Sat 15th Mar - Suncorp

Saturday night game, 28c Sunny day forecast. 2nd vs 5th Local derby battle of the potential Wallabies coach.

I keep hearing and reading that Super rugby is a breathe of fresh air in 2025. What excuses will there be for people not showing up this week to support Queensland, Australias most entertaining team?
They don't like Rugby Union?

Dunno, just been through a little cyclone and flood, first weekend since then and I still need to clear debris from my back yard and then help family do the same.. Might attend if the humidity hasn't killed me..

Some people in Brisbane and wider SEQ still don't have power...

Rugby just can't catch a break.

This should definitely be the biggest crowd of the season, but the Reds are coming off a really poor game in NZ.

Compound that with the storm last week as Adam mentions and the fact the Broncos are playing at the same time in what has been billed as the NRL game of the week and it's really just a shit sandwich.

I'd be surprised if we do get much over 20k and a loss is going to make getting bums on seats hard going forward.

Nice to know you are expecting to lose! But before you go committing self harm have a rewatch of the Tahs second half. I don't think they won more than one of their own lineouts, their kicking for touch never made more than 20 metres (except for the one they didn't kick over the sideline), some of the handling was diabolical and this week Lancaster and Gordon are out with Gleeson on the bench (that's totally sus).

I know the Reds have some outs too, but I think the Reds must start warm favorites.

He and Harry will fucking dominate on the weekend and I'm here for it.

6/2 bench v 5/3 suggests that McKellar sees something he wants to address at Lang Park.

Much as I love George Blake it is good to see our (Reds) front row incl bench return to full strength. In fact the Reds pack is formidable from 1 to 20. That said, so are the Waratahs from 1 to 21. That battle will be key, and I'm not convinced even with the Reds back row that dominance is as clear as some are suggesting. Especially if Tupou kicks in and starts earning his cheque.

OTOH I'm less convinced by either side's consistency in the back line.

Murray is the poor bloke with "sacrificial lamb to the slaughter" designation. I'm hoping he has shaken off the cob webs after last week. What do we know about Dre Pakeho at fullback? He is listed as a centre at the Reds website. If we are relying on Murray for 80 or another non-fullback to see the game out, well it is an important position. Add to that is the strategy with a full squad where there are lengths of the game where the fullback sets at first receiver (easing Lynagh's bourdon) this is going to test the Red backline for sure. At least our centre selections are headed in the right direction.

I don't know if it is the Reds DNA, but 10 man rugby seems to be a recipe here. Ignoring of course, that the Waratahs are likely to be thinking the same thing.

Tactics will be interesting.

He has a decent boot on him but it'd be a stretch and an absolute last resort I think. HMP or Anderson if required surely.

Bookies would have taken some peoples cash last week when everyone thought the Force were a hidden gem at $3.
