Full-time: Hats off to the Crusaders defence tonight, it was legendary from start to finish. The Brumbies found it hard to deal with at the breakdown and with turnovers. Had the Saders shown a few more sparks of some kind of attacking creativity rather than just waiting for an error, they probably would have taken this game.

From the Brumbies point of view, despite being their own worst enemies at times against the ’08 champs, they’ve still come up with the goods in a thrilling Canberran victory of old. Winning when things don’t go right is a good sign. Another good sign is Gerrards kicking game which was fantastic tonight, that with his match winning try must surely given him Man of the Match.

Lealiifano wasn’t nearly so composed tonight – was it the Giteau news??
