Now that you've bitten on that one ILTW - I agree but which of those clubs in each of the respective areas is more likely to receive referrals from each school and which offers the best culture and prospects to develop at colts and grade level and beyond ?!

I have heard that the team that played in the Waratah Shield final for Auggies was very different to the team that played Oakhill in ISA. I have heard that a lot of the year 12 players developed some very serious attitudes and became very lazy in attending training and doing all they were required to do. The team that played on yesterday was mostly players in year 10 and 11 (some from their u16's) and will amke up the majority of the first xv next year

I think the only 16's player to get a run yesterday was Walker.
It was a completeley different backline yesterday, they used a different 9,10,12,13 & 15. The 12 & 15 playing 9 & 10 in the last game against Oakhill.
In respect to attitudes, my understanding is that after the Oakhill loss, some of the older heads thought it pointless to keep any intensity as the ISA season was lost.
It was only the last 2 training sessions that any intensity or purpose resurfaced.

Was told a different game plan by Augies was used as well by keeping it more in the forwards, even though this has not worked quite as well in recent times.
Believed Augie Boys Partied Very Hard Last Night, including some Teachers with Sore Heads this morning .

Always nice to silence the critics . If it was a side with younger non year 12 players were Newington recruiters sighted with their cheque books?

sighted a couple of years ago, They will have at least 3 ex Augs kids in their 1's next year.Scots seem to be very active on the northern beaches as well, there would be 1/2 dozen Augs kids that have since moved to Scots.

Please explain. Some might not understand but I do. I thought you were trying to claim the high ground in a previous post. Also I will add that I attended St Pauls in Manly not Auggies. I just don't understand why the students who have gone there to both play rugby and get an education are belittled by people such as yourself.

Nothing sinister. Someone posted that they thought Auggies didn't have too many Y12 players or that they may have been distracted.

My take on that was that some of the boys may have actually been trying to focus on the HSC, after all that is the main reason for being at school in Y12 isn't it?

No belittlement intended. Quite the opposite in fact.

Didn't go, had no reason to be there. Notice from other posts that playing personnel has been altered at Augustines and that a few defeats had altered the mindset of a few players and perhaps the coaches. Still see no reason to change my mind on what I'd seen previously. New game, new result.

Interschool rivalry is good for the ISA Association (Knox's win over Barker in the last round of the CAS was more to do with this result than table positions) and Augustines keep one of the trophies in the cupboard. This time it was Oakhill that were found wanting perhaps. One more game of schoolboy rugby done, will be interested to see who survives at senior level.

I like to watch - who are the Yr 11 lads who were in the Auggies 23 yesterday - and who from Yr. 10?

13 Ibbotson yr 11
14 taylor yr 11
15 cochrane yr 11

Natoli will be replaced by taefutu yr 11 who played 10 the last month whilst Cochcrane was out. 11 will be McDonald who also played most of the year.
Year 10 boys who have been blooded in the last month or so include backrowers Lough & George ???, And Kaplan who filled in at 12, also an islander boy who filled in at 13 quite a few times

A lot less returners for Oakhill in 2013. Been a huge year for Oakhill with all Opens sides (1sts to 5ths) winning their ISA titles undefeated. Current year 12 boys featured prominently in both 1sts & 2nds and the U16 A&Bs didn't secure their ISA premierships so could be a leaner 2013 for the Castle Hill boys.

Non Year 12 students who have been a consistent part of the 1sts this year are (I think) limited to:
Josh Anderson (5)
Matt Collins & Cameron Daniels (14) - Collins will likely play at 10 next year and Daniels 13
Ben Cotton (15)

Well that is very welcome news Ryan09. It really is good to see the Parramatta revival. Although they were soundly beaten at Manly today they have had a great season and one of the shames of colts in recent times has been Parra not being competitive. in my salad days they were a club to be feared and NSW Rugby need sit again

By my reckoning the competition just completed was the 50th running of the Waratah Shield.
Maybe an opportunity was missed to promote the 2012 final as a milestone worthy of more attention in the media?
Maybe the Waratahs could have attended?
Maybe it could have been staged as a curtain-raiser to a significant senior match?
Eighteen different schools have won the Shield in that time (9 multiple winners and 9 one time winners) with, of course, St Edmund's College Canberra the standout, with 14 titles.
