Some people may take the view that former Super Rugby players should not be eligible for Barbarian selection, and that it should be ALL about development of future talent as well as rewarding the solid but uncontracted club journeymen with an overseas tour.
I believe that the development of future talent objective will be enhanced if the Barbarians include some grizzled old former Pro Players in their squad, just not too many. The young bucks can learn a hell of a lot from those who have earned their seats at the back row of the team bus.
The Pro Rugby experiences, and leadership, maturity and mentoring that the likes of a Luke Holmes, or Radike Samo (if fit) would bring to the Barbarians party would be priceless and should not be overlooked.

I think the only players who shouldn't be eligible are the guys who are signed up for Super Rugby in the following year, if players are out of contract and still pushing to be signed then i don't think they should be precluded from playing in the team.
There are former super rugby players running around in club rugby who didn't make the cut at Super Rugby for whatever reason, albeit they didn't get the right opportunities or injuries prevented then. These guys should still be eligible for the Barbarians team.

I'm not a big user of facebook, and CBF trawling through 300+ players facebook pages on the off chance that they might have "let the cat out of the bag" on their NRC Barbarian Selection.
It's Last Chance Saloon for any G&GR poster to put forward their Barbarians Selection.
